Very nice chair, good novice+ project
Built this for a mother’s day present for my wife. Dry fit everything as we went, no issues at all. It came out very nice in poplar and a few coats of urethane. Used on a covered porch. Agree with others on the short glide travel. Would build base taller and get longer glide arms if I did it again. Wife very happy with it.
This one looks better than most I saw. I agree with Jake a bit. I wish there were instructions on the placement of the glider brackets. Indeed, the swing is very short, however with a small change in the placement of lower bracket ends I was able to extend it a little. Also, I think the back needs to have a slightly greater slant to it. It sat up a little too straight for me. Nevertheless, I've had a number of compliments and got to make one more and they love it.
Needs a good edit
Overall instructions were clear but some diagram details did not match written directions. Some screw placements were incorrect or didn't match written directions. Bolt sizes for upper bolts way off! The base was slightly too long - test and measure spacing before cutting the parts. Will result in a good product if you pay attention and carefully think through each step in advance to catch the subtle errors before its too late. Also note that due to the short glider bars the "swing" of this glider will be short- something I didn't think about before choosing this type of glider (not a shortcoming of the plans but the builder!).
