    Not so accurate circle cutter

Wood kept moving off circle cutter pin. I returned it to the store.

    It Works well

It works well and cuts a nice circle. You have to be careful to keep the work piece properly vertical, though. Allowing the piece to tilt from one side to another will push the blade to the side. Also, standing the side of the blade/saw seems to be a safer and more controlled position for cutting the circle. I'm an engineer and expect a bit better design. So maybe this next part is over critical. The clamping system is a poor and flimsy design and should be improved. They got cheap out on that part. I will improve upon that very soon. Likewise, the instructions are poor. I mean they should be embarrassed to even include them. The system is not hard to figure out if you have any mechanical inclination. But how much effort does it take to write a decent set of step by step instructions?!?!?! Or even include some advice on aligning the tool and securing it properly? Between the clamping and lack of proper instructions, this device could pose some safety risks. Ensure the device is firmly clamped in place before attempting use it. Make sure the centering pin aligns properly with the blade and that there is room between the saw blade and the supporting aluminum channels. Calibrate the scale by aligning the zero with the blade. I gave it only 3 stars because of the sub standard instructions and the poor clamping design.

    missing parts

opened the box and one hole clamp assembly and one stabilizer was missing so I had to make my own clamps just so I could use it. we will see how long it takes costimer service to get me a clamp. so far i'm not impressed.

    Carter circle cutting jig

Instructions could use improvement in my opinion. The jig is much easier to set up when not using the Carter mag fence as a table extension. Also I did find the wood blank to be a bit wobblier then I would have liked. All in all the jig does cut circles, but assembly, instructions and operation are not top notch.

    Easy Set Up

The set up is quick and easy. Accurate cuts. It would be nice if you could slide the cut to the stop thus making cutting a bigger than final size board a quicker cut.

    Magfence works

Relatively easy to set up, works as advertised. NIce rig, not too expensive.

    Circles made easy!

I use this tool for all my circle cuts and the setup to the bandsaw is quick and easy even without the recommended magfence attachment. The assembly plans could use alot more work, however it isn't hard to figure out on your own.

Good Jig but a couple of tricks u need

Bought this for a project I was doing using Bubinga. Wood is beautiful, expensive and hard! Fixture works well except there are 2 tricky things. First to get the center punch on the pivot post you need to get down low with a flashlight to make sure you are in the punched spot. If you do not get in the punch it will walk. Second you need a starting edge at exactly your diameter because there is no way to lead the band saw in when you are on the pivot. If the saw blade is pushed on too much when the piece is on the punch you can use a belt sander to make a slight divot in the edge to start the saw. Finally circles I cut were not perfect but pretty close. I believe the variance was due to the blade bending slightly in very hard wood.

    Fit my Jet 14

Maybe the instructions have changed since the last person reviewed it, but I had no problem following the instructions and installing the jig. I watched the videos on the Carter site first, which helped, but install was still a snap on my 14" Jet saw with riser block. Cutting circles could not be easier, just make a center punch, mount your wood, slide forward until it hits the stop and rotate. I agree with the last review it can be a little tippy, but I realized I was doing it slightly wrong at first. If you follow the directions and place downward pressure on the center and hold it there then everything stabilizes. It takes a little getting use to, but after that I've made countless perfect circles with total stability. I've even used it to cut some larger 4 foot 1" oak ply to make a card table. I LOVE THIS THING. My main reason to buy it was to salvage scraps of high dollar wood that I turn bowls with. It allows me to keep what otherwise would end up as chips and dust on the floor. It also allows me to get closer to the final diameter in the rough cut then I ever did before. I then can use more of the scrap wood to make pens and smaller turning projects. I also have had the Carter guides on my saw for many years and love them. Another fine product from Carter, thanks.

May not readily fit some 14" saws.

Won't fit most 14" saws with a riser block without customization, unless the saw's extension table is permanently removed. Support for workpiece is problematic (tippy) – not as good as jigs with a large solid base. Written instructions confused me – watch the manufacturer's installation videos for clarification.
