    Details

Hand Forged Laminated Gardening Hoes are traditional tools used by Japanese gardeners. They are individually forged and heat treated by a master blacksmith. Each tool is a lamination of soft iron and high carbon steel. Unlike Western hoes, the blades are designed with a curved surface so that the blade cuts from the center to the outside edge. This improves the cutting effect and helps prevent damage to adjacent foliage. The blades are installed angled to the handle to reduce fatigue during use. The handle is made from hard wood and is attached to the blade through a forged socket.

Our Planter's Tool with its wider blade is used to break up soil and prepare for transplanting bedding plants from their pots to the soil. Because of its heft and size, one or two strokes will open up a hole with sufficient room for the root structure. Blade is 2-3/4" wide x 5" long, and overall length is 15«".
