Their entire product line of workbenches was designed to meet the needs of a modern day woodworker and to take advantage of the latest manufacturing techniques. The range of features is truly amazing and cannot be matched by any other manufacturer. These holdfasts are ideal for securing your work. They are designed for use in Sjobergs workbenches – either in the round dog holes found on the work surface or in the holes on the front legs of the trestle. However, they can be used in any 3/4" hole. Maximum working height is 6" and throat is 4-3/4". Sold as a pair.

    Very useful

    Been using four of them on my Sjobergs workbench for two years, and they are great. Strong, stable, reliable. They can exert a lot of downward pressure without slipping.

    Almost perfect...but

    These would get a 5-Star except they don't bite the inside of the dog hole very well. My top is 3" thick and holes walls are smooth as they were cut with very good forstner bits. The holes are 1/32" shy of 3/4" and the clamps are 2/32" shy of 3/4" so they tend to lift as you are applying screw pressure. Luckily the fix is simple. A 1" wide strip of emory cloth about 3-4" long places in the hole (rough side toward holdfast) with the holdfasts solves the problem. A wedge/shim would also work.

    I would buy more if I needed them.

    As noted in another review, these did not grip well on my bench with 3" thick top. I put a strip of gorilla tape down the back and trimmed the tape to have a snug fit in the 3/4" dog hole. Grips great now. not sure how long the tape will last, but I think this will work out great with this slight modification. So now I won't return them, and in fact I think now they are more useful since they can provide some downward preasure, not just keeping the wookpiece stable.

    outstanding

    extremely usefull, very easy to use. lots of holding power, but will slip on thick tops. made from heavy wall steel tubing, square cut threads. tube roughened for better grip but needs more grip when used on a thick top, over 2" thick. if you have a bench you want several.
