    Works as advertised?

Tried to remove the center pin and found it would not come out. A call to Woodcraft and a replacement was on the way. It worked as advertised.

    It works...but...

The bearings in mine wore out after about two years of moderate use. The point is supposed to come out (which would be usefull as a hollow center for drilling lamp holes), however, my 12 ton hydraulic press was not able to remove it. This is a single bearing design and I noticed the bearing used was the lowest cost and lowest quality available for purchase from various sources online. Also this bearing type cannot handle both axial and radial forces (which is a serious design flaw for a live center). A better design would be to employ a double bearing set that can handle both axial and radial forces. I was able to remove the old bearing and replace it with a bearing made of better quality materials. I may get another couple years of use out of it before the bearing wears out again. All that being said, it does indeed function at low cost. Would I recommend it? Depends. You get what you pay for. If you don't do alot of turning and you have a small budget, it fits the bill. Expect to repair or replace it periodically. However, if you can afford better, I would recommend something with better quality and design.

Centers things well, but is very noisey

Centers and supports the piece okay but the bearings are very noisey. I would suspect that the beqrings will not hold-up very long.

I would recommend this to anyone

Well made and solid construction. Center is a bit difficult to remove but it would be too loose if it was easy. Great product

    Excellent item

I am a retired Psychology Professor who makes shawl pins for ladies who wear scarves and shawls. Wood is fascinating because of what is hidden until someone makes its beauty evident. I see wood like people, you cannot work with all types the same way. Also God hid so much beauty underneath the bark and I love revealing it.

Works well! Difficult to remove point.

It's a well made, free turning tailstock cup center with removable point. It works very well in that role. But it's extraordinarily difficult to get the removable center out -- at least the first time -- and there are no instructions to tell you that brute force is required. I use it regularly and wouldn't be without it, but the removability of the center is a drawback. It would be much better if it were threaded.

I make custom turkey calls and this piece was a great replacement for my lathe.

    Glad I found this product

I bought this because the original lathe live tail stock center failed in less than 6 months. This was a good, inexpensive replacement.
