This is a remodeling project taken on by a DIY homeowner and shared with us from our Dayton Woodcraft store. Although this may not be their “forever” home, Jane & Eugene are sprucing up every room in the house for that future sale. Knowing that, this couple finds ways to keep within their budget while giving their home that special touch on a classy high-end level. We begin in the kitchen with a before shot revealing a much needed makeover. From what Jane calls her “disco bowling alley” kitchen with it’s old style counter tops, pictured next to the finished product complete with butcher block counter tops, we’ll show you how they did it, specifically the counter tops.
In part 4, we take a look at a deluxe crosscut station, complete with a lumber rack storage area on the backside. In addition this unit features a tilt-out bin, sliding drawers, adjustable shelving, and customizable pigeon compartments. Designed by Craig Bentzley and built by Joe Hurst-Wajszczuk, this article is written by Paul Anthony and is featured in Woodcraft’s October/November Magazine, Issue #43.

You’ll want to start building or improving your shop, starting with this Rust-Oleum based nonslip, epoxy paint and sealed floor. Great for resurfacing a concrete floor, this project will allow for easy clean-up leaving a show room finish. But don’t keep it clean, fill it with sawdust made from your handiwork and enjoy it! Create a two-wall workshop and outfit it with four outstanding shop projects using the Cut Lists and Convenience-Plus Buying Guides, all in the August/September Issue #54 of Woodcraft Magazine. We’ve never packed this much information all in one publication, so this issue is a must have!
Continuing our woodworking adventures into Alabama, we arrive at the home of Woodcraft Magazine senior editor, Joe Hurst-Wajszczuk to cover his 20′ x 22′ interior garage space morphing into an extreme workshop makeover. The 2011 October/ November Issue #43 of Woodcraft Magazine features a special topic on this floor to ceiling, wall to wall transformation with detailed projects, providing instruction on turning any garage, basement or outside structure into a viable workshop. Joe is tasked with converting his 20′ x 20′ two-car attached garage into an organized, fully functioning, safe workshop. The “BEFORE” photo below will give you an idea of what Joe started with. If the clutter and disorganization looks similar to your work area, then perhaps this information may help you build a workshop makeover too.
In this upcycle project, we had the opportunity to bring in a jewelry armoire from one of our Woodcraft marketing team members, Lori Haught. Lori decided rather than putting this in her Spring yard sale, why not refurbish it and give her bedroom decor an added useful piece to match other items therein. So, it was off to the Woodcraft product development department for a plan of action!
