Selecting the Perfect Turning Kit

Comments (0)

Woodcraft has the Perfect Turning Kit, no matter what your skill level might be. However, with over 200 different kits to choose from, selecting the right one can be a daunting task. To make the process easier, let’s take a look at some of the different kits available.

One of the simpler kits to start with would be a Slim Style Pen Kit. To complete this kit, specific bushings, pen mandrel, turning stock (wood or man-made), lathe, and a few turning tools will get you started.

If you are new to the turning world, we recommend that you enroll in a class at your local Woodcraft store. Most stores offer classes on a monthly basis. Check your local store for available classes and times.

Once comfortable turning the Slim Style pen, you will be able to challenge yourself with different pen kits, moving from single barrel to double barrel. All Woodcraft pen kits are offered in multiple plating options to help achieve your desired look.

Bottle Stopper Kits offer the next step in challenging your skills. Specific mandrels are required to complete these kits. Bottle Stopper Kits allow your creativity to shine. With a larger turning stock you have a larger canvas to work with to create beautiful shapes and designs. Our bottle stopper kits are offered in multiple plating options along with solid stainless steel.

If you are looking to really challenge your turning skills try any of our Kitchen Utensil Turning Kits. From pizza cutters and ice cream scoops to bottle openers and garlic presses, we offer something for every skill level. No special mandrels or bushings are required for these kits. All of our kits can be turned between centers on the lathe.  If you want to be able to remove the turned handle for easy cleaning then look at our Pizza Cutter Kits. How about a clean and finished end to your handle? Then try one of our Ice Cream Scoop Kits; the unique design seals off the end of the handle leaving no exposed end grain to get wet.

Really want to expand your turning skills? Look no further than our Rolling Pin Kit, Travel Mug Kit or Pepper  and  Salt Mill Kits. These kits involve multiple turning disciplines learned during turning all of the above kits. No specific mandrels or bushings or needed to complete these kits, but your skills will be challenged!

Just know that as your tuning skill level continues to grow, Woodcraft’s offering of kits to challenge you also grow.
