Your Furniture Creations Might Win Woodcraft Prizes in an Instructables.com Contest

Comments (0)

Build a new bookcase, chair or other furniture for your home – or repurpose a piece from the past to fit your décor – and enter your project in the Furniture Contest to win some cool tools from Woodcraft. The Instructables.com contest is open through Monday, December 18.

Makers are encouraged on Instructables.com to: “Go big and bold or simple and classic, as long as it fits your taste, it’ll fit right in the Furniture Contest!”

FROM BRAND-NEW TO A COMPLETE REDO – ENDLESS IDEAS FOR PROJECTS

The Barrister’s Bookcase in the image above was a project in the August/September 2008 issue of Woodcraft Magazine. The maker updated the classic design with simpler hardware and a different method for stacking the cases.

The maker of the wine rack pictured above spent $32.10 on an old record player that she then repurposed about 98 percent. Her “new” piece of furniture won the People’s Choice Award in a Habitat for Humanity ReStore contest and was sold for $400 at a ReStore auction.

New this Year: In addition to the usual prize categories, grand, first, second, third and runner-up, Instructables.com has added two Judges’ Prizes to this contest – one for a maker who builds a chair and another for someone who demonstrates upholstery skills.

Once entered, each furniture project will appear on Instructables.com, and members may vote for any entry. After the contest closes, a panel of judges, including Instructables staff members and members of the Instructables community, will rate the finalists. Averages of the ratings will determine the winners. Winners will be announced on the contest homepage by Jan. 2, 2018.
