General Finishes Adds 12 New Milk Paint ColorsComments (0)
General Finishes Milk Paints are some of the most popular and versatile water-based paints on the market. So when I found out they were adding a dozen new colors, I was pretty excited!
“The new palette has been carefully crafted with trending colors while preserving traditional best-selling favorites,” the company shared in a recent Facebook announcement. Twelve new colors and two discontinued ones—Buttermilk Yellow and Brick Red—brings the total offering to 33 lovely shades. GF’s Chalk Style Paint was discontinued to focus on the more durable milk paint for updating furniture, cabinets and trim. Two of the favorite Chalk Style colors—Empire Gray and Key West Blue—rolled into the Milk Paint line.
With the addition of more color choices, General Finishes is now breaking them into two groups: Signature Collection and Accent Collection. New colors in the Signature Collection include Reverent Gray, Empire Gray, Perfect Gray, Gulf Stream Blue, Blue Moon, Westminster Green and Harvest Yellow. They join favorites Snow White, Antique White, Linen, Millstone, Seagull Gray, Driftwood, Queenstown Gray, Dark Chocolate, Lamp Black, Persian Blue, Basil, Coastal Blue and Tuscan Red to round out the 20 signature shades.
The accent colors can be be used in smaller doses to give a pop of color on a bigger project or for the whole thing to get show-stopping results.
The 13-color Accent Collection consists of five new colors—Alabaster, China Blue, Twilight, Key West Blue and Ballet Pink—which join current shades Halcyon Blue, Klein Blue, Patina Green, Emerald, Coral Crush, Holiday Red, Persimmon and Sunglow.
For a better description of each new color, here is how General Finishes describes each one.
Alabaster - Halfway between the ever-popular Snow White and Antique White, Alabaster satisfies the demand for a neutral white. Like the stone it’s named after, Alabaster is cool, smooth and white—a blank canvas great for creating contrast.
Ballet Pink - A dreamy pink that is fresh and clean. It thrives in natural light, and its subtle impact makes it a great accent color.
Blue Moon - A soft, serene teal tone that lends itself to the evening sky. This beautifully saturated blue is quiet but still noticeably lovely.
China Blue - Brighter than Coastal Blue, but stronger than Klein Blue, this modern classic is reminiscent of the iconic 16th-century, blue-and-white porcelain patterns. China Blue is sure to invoke design inspiration.
Gulf Stream Blue - This friendly aquamarine will prove to be a memorable accent color. Just say the name and the mind recalls the deep blue river winding its way down the Southeast coastline.
Harvest Yellow - An autumn hue with hints of nature. Creates a sunny space, and its subtle reddish and brown undertones provide the perfect balance between muted and bright.
Perfect Gray - The perfect mid-tone gray with no overtones of blue and green. This warm neutral will become an instant classic as it creates a calm and collected vibe.
Reverent Gray - A versatile gray; mild and warm. Excellent choice for a paler neutral for your décor or home accessories.
Twilight - As the name suggests, a dark black with hints of purple like the sky at twilight. You’ll do a double-take, riveted by the subtlety of the purple tone.
Westminster Green - Named for the famous Westminster Bridge, this earthy green epitomizes a dark jade. It’s regal and humbly conspicuous and offers many opportunities for custom mixing.
And finally, these last two were fan favorites in the Chalk Style Paint line, so General Finishes reformulated them and now they’ll be in the Milk Paint lineup.
Which ones are your favorites? I’m crushing on Ballet Pink, Blue Moon and Gulf Stream Blue, but I’m dying to try them all! Here are some inspiration projects to see a few of the beautiful new colors in use.
We hope you’ll be inspired!
