Rick's Pick - WoodRiver™ Hand Plans:
Our Crews Corner product pick this week is from Rick, as he has spent some time with Woodcraft’s new line of WoodRiver™ Hand Planes:
“These planes are modeled after the Bedrocks from Stanley Tool Company. I found that the sole and the sides were flat and square. The blade will need some sharpening (but then what plane doesn’t need a good sharpening?), and also I found that the adjustment was a little tigh t. I compared them to the Lie-Nielsen block plane and the 4 1/2, and also to a 50-year-old plus Stanley #60 1/2 block plane – they are not quite as ‘smooth’ a finish, but they work very well! I feel the Wood River plane is a good tool to start out with for your hand plane collection.”

"Turn For Troops" Pen Turning Event, Nov. 9th, 10th and 11th
Join us for this special event to turn pens to send to our troops overseas. We'll have the lathes set up on the Demo Platform Monday Nov. 9th through Wednesday Nov. 11th. Stop in between 10am and 4pm and help us 'turn' for a good cause. All materials provided, while they last.
Don't know how to turn, don't have time, but want to help? Donations of pen kits, blanks or plastic shipping tubes would be helpful and gladly accepted!
Don't wait until November to get started on your pens for the troops! We are collecting pens from customers & clubs already!
We hope to top last year's total! We are always collecting the pens, and watch for our special sales to stock up on pen kits and supplies!
Next time you're in the store, view responses from our Soldiers and Certificates from Units who received your pens in the past few years.
