James Oliver

James came to Woodcraft Austin in 2010 part time after 33 years in the Printing business. He completed his first woodworking project in 1969, so he's been at it for most of his adult life.

His specialty includes joinery with handtools, handcut dovetails to be specific. He has a growing interest in veneering and no doubt will hone his skills until he becomes an expert in that genre as well. He teaches the Handcut Dovetail class and hopes to expand his teaching curriculum to include veneering.

As for his responsibilities at the store, everyone can thank him for his diligent effort in maintaining our inventory at the highest level and providing our customers with on-time restocks. He makes a consistent effort to make sure our truck replenishes the store at 100% and routinely receives the WSC (woodcraft supply) order with 0 errors!

Come by the store and see how James' effort to provide our customers the best product offerings can't go unnoticed.

Ron Marcil

Ron is one of the anchors at Woodcraft Austin. He has been with us since May 2009, introduced to Woodworking in a Woodshop 101 class here at the store. Since that time, he has expanded his knowledge of machinery to include most all woodworking power tools. His background consists of 33 years in Automotive Maintenance & Repair and his love of Guitars which makes Austin the perfect place for him.

As his experience in Woodworking grew, he has taken on teaching classes including Cabinet Making, Cabinet Making for Women, Woodworking Basics for Women and Table Saw Basics. Over time, Ron has become our local SAWSTOP expert. He knows this particular saw from the inside out and routinely assembles and conducts demos that demonstrate the unique safety qualities of this saw.

Come by Woodcraft Austin and let Ron introduce you to the personally gratifying hobby of working with wood.

Jerry Davis

Jerry is Woodcraft Austin's Lifetime Wizard, proficient in all departments. He has been with us since May 2005. His expansive knowledge includes all areas of woodworking with his specialty being finishing. He is a past president of the Fine Woodworking Club of Austin. Before landing at Woodcraft Austin, Jerry spent 39 years working, most of his life, at NCR (National Cash Register). Jerry spearheads our seminar program and could easily teach any class offered. A particular strength is his vision in designing future classes.

In February 2010, the Classroom at Woodcraft Austin was dedicated and renamed The Jerry R. Davis Classroom and School of Fine Woodworking. The staff and company wanted to honor him for his dedication to woodworking, his passion for the craft and his desire to teach to any and all.

Come by the store, talk to Jerry and see why he will always be the foundation of Woodcraft Austin!

Reuben Martin

Reuben is a new addition to the team at Woodcraft Austin. He comes to us after almost 35 years with Xerox and has spent 10 years on and off woodworking as a hobby. He enjoys working with people, wood, photography and his grandkids.

He aspires to become more proficient in woodworking, and as his experience grows will jump into the classroom arena teaching classes. In the meantime, he is learning the store and everything that comes along with being the new kid on the block.

Don't hesitate to seek him out when you visit our store, and let him demonstrate to you what he already knows how to do, welcoming everyone to the wonderful world of Woodcraft.

Rick Chichester

Rick is our longest serving team member and one of our Lifetime Wizards. He has 12+ years with Woodcraft Austin, and when he's not at work you can find him at home woodturning and box making. He knows our store from the inside out, having established this location when it was moved here in 2004. Since that time he has taken on additional opportunities but still remains at Woodcraft Austin PT.

Rick teaches numerous classes that include Woodturning, Box Making, and the Adirondack Chair class to name a few. He enjoys teaching because it gives him the chance to share his love of woodworking with anyone who shows an interest and desires to learn more. He can answer just about any question posed with his specialty being turning and small projects. If you have that itch and want to learn more there is no better person to help jumpstart your woodworking than Rick himself.

Come by the store and let him show you around, but be careful..his love for woodworking is contagious!
