Skill Level: Beginner/Intermediate,
Class Size: 12
Tools Required: Students should bring there own clamps.

 

Adding curves to your work will broaden your design options. This class is for beginning to intermediate woodworkers that want to learn the process of bentwood lamination as they make a small project that they can take home. David will bring a template for a small curve that the students will create. David will take you step by step through making a bending form, how to resaw laminates on the bandsaw, and the glue up process. In addition, David will demonstrate how to do compound bentwood laminations as well as continuous strip laminations.

 Turning Lidded Boxes- End grain Hollowing with Luis Gonzales
Friday, November 20, 10am - 5pm
Skill Level: Intermediate, Class Size: 5
Using end grain hollowing techniques you will learn to make a lidded box. You will learn to part off the lid, turn the box and make the lid fit properly. You will also gain experience in end grain hollowing.

Skill Level: Intermediate/Advanced, Class Size: 4
You will learn how to set up your Band saw, Safety, blade selection, wood selection, and layout. Using the bandsaw to create a beautiful two drawer box laminated poplar called "the Tides". You end up with a beautiful box to take home and apply the finish of your choice.
Prerequisites: Previous bandsaw experience needed.

Pen Turning Basics with Alan Trout

You will learn to turn a cigar style pen. You will also learn about some other finishes, and apply a CA finish to your pen for a beautiful looking pen.

Arts and Crafts Clock with Joel Jackson

Using basic hand tools, and some power tools. You will make a Simple Arts and Crafts Clock, out of Quartersawn white oak. Finish options will also be discussed. When you are done you will have a beautiful clock that shows off your woodworking skills.

Pen Turning Basics with Travis Merrill
Saturday, December 5, 10am - 4pm
Skill Level: Beginner, Class Size: 5
Use basic spindle turning skills to craft a beautiful wooden Cigar Style pen. Learn all the components used such as pen blanks, mandrels, pen mills and the pen press while you make a handmade wooden Cigar Style pen on the lathe. Pen turning is easy and enjoyable, and you end up with a great Cigar Style ink pen.

Router Basics with Lynn Sparby

Skill Level: Beginner, Class Size: 6
This is a hands on class where Lynn will show you the basic types of routers, their uses, advantages, and benefits. You will also learn about the different styles of router bits, and their uses. After using the different routers, and making a number of cuts, you will also learn about care and maintenance of the router, and their bits.

 Scroll Saw Griffin Puzzle with Donald Nichols

Don will show you how to create a Griffin puzzle out of Canary wood with a scroll saw. He will cover selection of the image for the puzzle and layout, wood usage and blade selection. you will end up with a unique puzzle.
Prerequisites: Scroll saw basics or equal experience.

Shaker Oval Box Class with Curt Pedder
Wednesday, December 9, 6pm - 9pm and Friday, December 11, 6pm - 9pm
Skill Level: Intermediate/Advanced, Class Size: 6
Learn to make an Oval Shaker Box in the traditional style. You will learn the steps necessary to build a #3 oval box in Cherry wood. You will also learn how to make a core and shapers so you can make more boxes at home.

Finishing 104 with Lynn Sparby

The use of oil and wax for finishing wood projects is introduced. The properties and components of both oil and wax finish will be reviewed.
