Robert Smith
Tyler Hillyard
Tyler is our store manager. He has a wide background in woodworking. While growing up working for his father doing construction he studied furniture making at the University of Rio Grande. Nowadays he spends a lot of his days off traveling around central Ohio milling logs for fellow woodworkers and occasionally finding time to build a piece of furniture here and there.
Lori (Lorene) Andrews
Lori, who originally trained in illustration with a degree from the Columbus College Of Art & Design, has successfully expanded her artistic skills to the medium of woodworking. Here, you see Lori surrounded by examples of her work. Of special note is the small-scale replica Indian which Lori carved from studying the original of "The First American Woodworker" which is on display at Woodcraft's corporate office in Parkersburg, West Virginia. Lori has been with us almost from the very beginning. She works in the store, teaches classes, and assists many of our customers with their finishing and color matching questions.
Bill Decker
After 37 years of teaching metal shop, wood shop and computer aided drafting at Hilliard Davidson High School in the Hilliard City School District, Bill Decker decided it was time to find a new home and do something different. So he made the journey from Davidson High School to the WOODCRAFT store. In his years as a wood shop teacher Bill developed his love of wood turning and building of contemporary/modern furniture pieces. Some of his work has been selected to be displayed at the juried fine arts show held at the Ohio State Fair and the Arts Educators Show at the Pittsburgh Institute of Art. Bill also enjoys printmaking and working with molten and fused glass.
Bill's wife Cynthia will be returning to school in August for her 31st year of teaching Home Economics. They have two daughters, Caryn who is a pastry chef with Cameron Mitchel Restaurants in Columbus and Aly who is newly graduated from Kent State University with a degree in nursing and works at Akron General Hospital.
John Fair
John Fair has been a long-time wood worker; his appreciation for the craft began in his building cabinetry and furniture, repairing and restoring furniture and has an extensive collection of antique hand tools. John is a member of the Woodworkers of Central Ohio and enjoys teaching classes at woodcraft.
John also enjoys helping people learn about wood working and loves talking with customers about their wood crafting questions and needs. John's current projects are remodeling his kitchen cabinetry made with quarter sawn curly white oak and building an entertainment center bookshelves for his TV room. John's wife Jill,is eagerly awaiting the finished projects!
Ed Kitchen
Ed has been a longtime Woodcraft customer. Problem solving and learning are two of the things he enjoys most in his life and he expects to do a lot of both working at Woodcraft. He has taken a number of the classes offered at our store and most recently completed what he considers his first real piece of furniture when he took our Windsor Chair making class. Ed generally spends time on smaller projects such as pens, wine stoppers and music box pieces when he is not building fly rods for himself or his friends. This summer he hopes to combine his woodworking and rod building skills by learning to make a split cane bamboo fly rod. We happily welcome Ed as the newest member of our Woodcraft staff.
Aaron Monroe
We welcome Aaron as our newest employee!!!
Aaron retired from the auto industry after 37 years experience as a process engineer. He and his wife, Maura, recently relocated to the Columbus area from northeast Ohio. They were both born and raised in Portsmouth, Ohio and attended Ohio University. They have two children, Aaron and Amanda, who along with their families also live in the Columbus area. Aaron's woodworking experience started while working at Taylor Lumber in southern Ohio during high school and college. Woodworking along with fly fishing continue to be main hobby interests for Aaron. At one point the two hobbies were combined by building steambent and laminated trout landing nets for sale and gifts. Aaron is excited to be the newest member of our woodcraft staff.
Eric Rauschenbach
Bill Stauffer
Bill Stauffer, has been a woodworking hobbyist for many years and a Woodcraft customer since the store opened. He enjoys making boxes, tables and various gifts for his family. The largest project he has completed is his Mission style dining room table which expands to seat 14 people. Bill is a long time member of the Woodworkers of Central Ohio club. He is also a charter member of ROMEO (Really Old Men Eating Out) where camaraderie abounds and the truth sometimes gets stretched. In addition to working with customers Bill has assumed our Wednesday presence and duties in the Woodcraft Shop so if you need a board planed, some cuts made, or someone to discuss ideas with, stop in to see him.
