Excellent protection - fussy aaplication
Waterlox Original Marine Finish, Quart
The marine finish provides excellent protection for outdoor exposure, but achieving a smooth, consistent finish can be tricky. Allow extra time for any prior sealer coat to cure. I get best results thinning the finish 15% with mineral spirits and allowing 48 hours between coats. I sand with 320 grit after second coat and wipe on a 25% thinned final coat. If the material is too thick and skins over, it will not cure underneath. Do not use when humidity in your shop exceeds 50%.

Both the sealer and finish are great products. The finish is long lasting, a few years if not in direct sun.
I apply it a bit differently than the other reviewers. I wipe on with an applicator pad and then wipe down the surface with a microfiber cloth immediately after application. I build up several coats with this method (24h apart) and it gives a nice deep gloss that is also very warm. It will appear dull after the wipe-down but if you have sealed properly the gloss will rise as it cures.
If you have never used this product before and like a more natural look I highly recommend giving it a try.
waterlox marine sealer and finish
I add 4oz. of stain to a qt.sealer on first coat, soaks deep into wood.two more coats sealer,24hr. between coats.two coats of satin marine waterlox finish on top.no sanding between coats, last fo years
Works very well for countertops
apply thick coats so it levels itself
Very thick, does not level properly
On the advice of my local Woodcraft, I purchased this for outdoor furniture. It is very thick and, when applied as directed, did not level out.
I called Waterlox and they said it should be about twice as thick as a normal varish but that it should have leveled out.
Saddly, now I have to do a lot of sanding and find a new final finish.
