Comments about Ceros 5" Compact Electronic Random Orbital Sander - DC Motor :

I currently own over a dozen Porter Cable 6" ros with PSA pads and have them set up with a grit for each sander for production work. Been using those sanders for many years and have found nothing as agressive except Festool sanders but did not like the cost or the size weight of the Festool. Another woodworker that bought this Mirka sander told me how it cut almost a third of the sanding time off, and that is with the PSA sandpaper, not the hook and loop abunet style. And she wants to buy a couple more Mirkas to dedicate to each grit. The more I thought about it, I realized that if you just use the system as designed with the vacuum hose for dust extraction, and just change to the grit by simply taking a couple of seconds to do it, you would technically need only one sander. This is also due to the fact that with the DC transformer and brushless motor, you could continuously use the same sander all the time, and it won't get overworked, hot, or burnt out as would regular electrical sanders. I also have several air sanders (dynabrade) and like using them but they are not as agressive as the Porter Cable. So, I took the plunge by purchasing the Mirka Ceros and a Fein vacuum. This system is so dust free that i can use it in my "clean room" as i make instruments and have a room that is dehumidified and climate controlled but, don't want anything that creates dust to contaminate anything although I do have dust filters, I want to keep dust particles down to a minimal level so I always do sanding outside of the shop and let the dust fly. This tool works so well that I want to get another system to use outside of the cleanroom. This unit is powerful, almost dustless when used with the proper vacuum, quiet and easy to control with the dynabrade type of paddle control for fine adjusting to work surfaces. You will need both sanding pads at firm and soft as the firm pad will really want to flatten the workpiece and will not get into the small dips etc. until you get that whole piece FLAT, which is good if you want that result. Using the soft pad will be a little more forgiving and will work its way on less than perfectly flat pieces. The abrunet sandpaper works well and lasts a long time compared to good PSA. When you look at the sanding pad and the abrunet sandpaper, you can't help but notice how effective this system is to suck that dust out of the air around your workpiece which also helps the sanding results! Expensive, but I do this for a living and 80% of my time is spent sanding. This system is going to make a big difference in my man hours, and it is a joy to use in the meantime!

Comments about Ceros 5" Compact Electronic Random Orbital Sander - DC Motor :

Really amazing orbital sander! Worth the money, I have used the festool and fein and the mirca really out does them. Its very powerful and fast, and most importantly really light weight. I can feather things really well with this sander. Sanding overhead is a real breaze compared the others in the same feild. It has a lot of speed adjustment in the handle and on controls. Have nothing bad to say, I hope this becomes the standard in the industry. Its like an air powered D.A but electric so you can take it without the compressor. Rock n roll!
