Comments about SawStop Contractor Saw with 36" Pro T-Glide Fence System Model CNS175-TGP36 :

I've owned this saw for four years without setting off the brake but I'll accept Sawstop's word that it works. I've used my Sawstop to cut lumber for built-in furniture and a number of smaller projects. (Mostly I use walnut and cherry, the thickest boards being 5/4.) This saw cuts as precisely as the the 3 hp Delta cabinet model I used previously. All in all, it's an excellent choice for someone who wants to do fine work in a small workshop. The 1.75 hp model comes wired for 110 volts but I would strongly recommend converting to 220 unless you appreciate the Young Frankenstein effect on your basement lighting every time you fire it up. Also be sure to spring for the cast iron wings; the extra weight adds to the stability of the machine. Replace the stock blade too. Sawstop sells an outfeed table separately but you can easily make your own. As others have noted, the packaging and fit and finish on this saw are excellent. I would add that customer service is first-rate as well. It will take you several hours to assemble the saw but the experience is entirely pleasurable. You'll need an extra pair of hands but only to haul the motor assembly into the basement. The operating instructions are clearly written and bear careful reading, as the Sawstop differs substantially from a conventional table saw. Among other things, the brake clearance needs to be adjusted each time you change blades, and wet wood or contact with metal will cause it to fire. But there is a way to disarm the brake if you are cutting questionable material and if you read the instructions you should be fine. In sum, the Sawstop people make a high-quality tool that solves the age-old problem of cutting wood without removing errant fingers. It's an expensive machine, but well worth the money.

Picked up saw on 11/28/12.It took about 6 hrs. to put together. I was very pleased with the instructions and seperation of all nuts, bolts, and screws into packs for each phase of setup. Quality of saw is great. Blade and fence were square and plumb right out of the box. Only used once but dust collection seems ok. I bought this saw for the quality and safty and am happy I choose this saw.

Comments about SawStop Contractor Saw with 36" Pro T-Glide Fence System Model CNS175-TGP36 :

I purchased the Saw Stop not only because of the safety features but for the exacting build quality and overall fit and finish that user reviews have raved about. I made the right choice. The tolerances are tight and true, not to mention an unparalleled packing and instruction set. Customer service at Saw Stop is on another level. It is hard to find such quality these days in corporate America. Saw Stop delivers a new technology with a tried and true philosophy not forgotten - satisfy the customer. With me they have. The only thing that could make Saw Stop better is if they went 100 % American made! Thanks Saw Stop.

Comments about SawStop Contractor Saw with 36" Pro T-Glide Fence System Model CNS175-TGP36 :

This is a great saw I would recommend it to anyone. The only issue I have found with it is the dust control - the saw advertisements and woodworking discussion boards Emphasized the saws dust control qualities. But the truth is - "not so much..." Of course - I DO keep in mind that I bought the saw to make sawdust! Also - I did get all the saw's accessories offered - every one of which I think were worth getting and recommend others getting as well. Having owned the saw for a month now - the only aftermarket accessory I think I need to get is a Miter Gauge - the one I received with the saw is "just OKay" - but I got a high-end saw at a high-end cost to high-end work. My only other thought about the saw is that I had to pay extra for a Dado brake cartridge - that doesn't make sense in my mind - that brake cartridge should have come in the box with the saw.
