Nice to carve, subtle grain
Jobillo 2" x 6" x 6"
I have carved several kinds of wood into mathematically inspired sculptures based on the torus shape (doughnut), with a closed curve going around and through to make a torus knot. The cylindrical shaped material drilled out to make the hole can also be carved. The grain of the wood makes an essential contribution to the overall effect, and different woods each have their own appeal. Cocobolo seems to be the best when it is not too dark, but this Jobillo came out very well, too, with a subtle light grain. Carving and polishing were no problem. The grain shown in the picture on the website was much different from the grain of the piece I received. See the attached picture for the results.
