Comments about Rikon 14" Deluxe Bandsaw Model 10-325 :

This is a good enough saw for even the most dedicated amateur woodworker, but if you're imagining slicing 8" X 1/16" veneers right out of the box, you'll be disappointed - not because the saw can't do that, but because of the fit and finish issues you may have to address to make it do so. First assembly: not sure what those complaining about the instructions encountered. I assembled this and had it running by myself in an a couple of hours. I'm 60 years old and could do so without assistance, so it shouldn't be a problem for most most men. Folks lacking up body strength probably would require assistance mounting the saw body and table. The saw is steel, not cast iron bodied, but it's heavy enough that I've been able to saw 12" logs with it, with no racking or detrimental flex of the beam, so it's plenty heavy duty. My only real complaint is fit and finish. I had to shim the riser and then polish the too-rough rack in order to prevent it from wobbling terribly in its race and get it to move smoothly once tight. The upper saw guide head was not square to the blade, and getting it so required filing of the tenon that slots into the riser. I removed the adjusting wheels on the saw guides - they did not adjust smoothly, and getting them to do so looked a pain, and it's actually easier to adjust the guide wheels without the knobs than with. Adjusting the riser to travel parallel to the blade was difficult, but possible. The saw has adjustment mechanisms everywhere one needs them, so the fact that its alignment out of the box was poor was addressable without difficulty, although if you don't know your way around a band saw, I doubt you'd ever get it to work smoothly. So, overall, worth the money - I don't think you'll find a better, tougher saw for the money, but be prepared for a lot of adjust and fit to get optimal performance.

Comments about Rikon 14" Deluxe Bandsaw Model 10-325 :

I've been using this for over a year now and thought I'd throw in my 2 cents worth. After trading up from my 12" jet (another fine unit)to get more re-saw capacity this machine has become a workhorse in my shop. Although there are some minor flaws like the restricted dust port, lousy blade tension indicator, poorly located work light and the lower blade guides lack of travel for 3/4 in blades, these are quickly forgotten when you start to really use the saw. With a decent blade this unit is virtually unstoppable. I have used it to re-saw logs, 1 x 12" oak for veneer, and everything from band saw boxes to guitar bodies. The included fence is excellent and re-sawing or ripping with a 5/8" blade is accurate and predictable. I've been amazed with the results. The large table is handy and the unit runs smoothly and quietly. it took some time to get it set up out of the box and I spent a few hours fine tuning it but it was worth every second. I have not had to fuss with it since. Not having used the other nice units out there like Laguna or Jet, I can't compare them. But for those in the market for a unit like this, the Rikon is an excellent choice. You will not be disappointed.

Comments about Rikon 14" Deluxe Bandsaw Model 10-325 :

I just bought the Rikon 10-325 (April 2015). I haven't used it yet so won't comment on what I hope will be a great saw. The assembly instructions and photos are awful particularly the parts dealing with the fence/attachments (not detailed enough, poor descriptions, poor order of assembly steps, dark photographs). Be sure to read both the owners manual and the supplement. If you don't, you'll end up with unused parts and will have to dismantle some parts and do it all again. It wouldn't take long to assemble this saw correctly if Rikon had taken the time and effort to put together clear and accurate instructions. I have assembled many other tools from Jet, DeWalt, Makita. These are by far the worst instructions I have seen. There are people who write technical specs. Rikon needs to hire one who can do the job!

Comments about Rikon 14" Deluxe Bandsaw Model 10-325 :

I purchased the older, green machine from Woodcraft a few years ago with no regrets. I use it for re-sawing with a 1/2" Wood-slicer blade from Highland Woodworking and curved cuts with a 1/4" Timber wolf blade from Woodcraft. I've had good results with both applications. I upgraded the guides with Carter products which are superior to those that came with the tool. When moving from re-sawing to curve cuts, I change guides and take the table off beforehand. This is annoying because the table is attached with four bolts and it's difficult for one person to reinstall. Assembling the saw was intuitive although putting the base together is challenging. I agree with earlier comments regarding the position of the lamp. Due to it's position on the left side of the fence, a shadow is cast by the fence at the point where the blade meets the wood. I'm familiar with most every band saw available and if I ever upgrade it will be to a 3-hp Powermatic, which costs three times as much. All in all, the 14" Rikon is a good saw for the price.

Comments about Rikon 14" Deluxe Bandsaw Model 10-325 :

I mill all of my rough sawn lumber before making furniture, which means I do a lot of resawing. I've actually resawn 12/4 x 10" planks with this saw but the 1-1/2 HP motor is under powered for this. I do a lot of 8/4 x 8" hard maple and it works pretty good, but I really do need to upgrade to the 3 HP motor. For the most part I'd have nothing but good to say about this saw for the money. By the way, when set up correctly you DO NOT need a resaw bar. I never use one and it cuts a perfect straight line every time. I'm sure that using top of the line blades enhances this saw's performance too. I gave it a five star rating for the money. I've used more expensive saws that did not perform as well.

This is a review for the Rikon service rep I just got off the phone with. He answered the phone right away. Very courteous and professional. I had purchased another brand saw blade 1/4" thick, but couldn't get the tension even close to correct. He had me put the old blade back on and it tensioned up fine. I put the 1/4" back on and still too loose. He had me check a couple things and then told me to try something. Bam it was right on. It's great when they can help you fix something in minutes. Can't say how much that kind of support means to the end user.

Comments about Rikon 14" Deluxe Bandsaw Model 10-325 :

I got this tool yesterday (1/29/2015), and set it up last night. It is recommended that you have someone help you unload it, and most importantly, help you get the main (heavy) part lifted, and set up on its base once the base is built. I didn't have the luxury of a helper, or fancy pulleys, and I'm only 5'10" and weigh in at 160lbs, so it was difficult to say the least. I was able to assemble the whole thing in about 3 hours, although I REALLY took my time. With every new tool I get, I like to inspect every detail as I am assembling it to get familiar with it before I turn it on. The instruction manual left a lot to be desired, however, the "Operator's Manual Supplement" on the Rikon web page is available, and better. This was not terrible, but it could be better. Minus half a star. After I set it all up, I found that one of the screw holes for the left fence scale was not tapped. This is a bummer for me, and it costs the tool half a star. QC. It is all set up, and while I have not been able to fine tune it to my desire, it works pretty well. I have only run maple through it, but is sliced through it like a champ! Once I get it dialed in, and really test it out, I'll post another review. So far, I am happy with my purchase, and this is my first (real) band saw.

I bought one of these last year. went to set it up for resaw and have nothing but trouble since. Buy something else. I sure wish I had. Spoke with Rikon several times, try this try that. I offered to pay to have someone come out and set it up. Nooooooooo we don't offer that. Will never buy any Rikon product again, ever. I have been woodworking for over 40 years and have never had problems with a piece of equipment like this.

Comments about Rikon 14" Deluxe Bandsaw Model 10-325 :

Instructions left a little to be desired but had no problem figuring out how to put it together. Once base was finished I used a floor jack to lift up the top section and just slid it over. Squared everything up, took the fence back off and put on a "Little Gripper" mill and was able to cut perfect 1/32" slices off a piece of cedar log. Milled up several cedar and Bois d' Ark short logs for planks. So far this has been a dream machine for me and would highly recommend for others. I too took a long time in deciding what saw to buy and am very pleased with it.

Comments about Rikon 14" Deluxe Bandsaw Model 10-325 :

This is an initial review, I'll come back and update, but need to vent. The assembly instructions are an insult. I'm trying to assemble the Stand. The diagram shows 18 items. The item description lists 9 items. The instructions give names to items that don't appear in either of the above. The parts diagrams in the back of the booklet don't show the Stand. The Parts List at the end of the booklet has a completely different listing. AND, if you want to get assistance from Rikon, good luck. They are Mon-Fri only until 4:30 EST (1:30 PST). More advice: don't start assembly on a Friday.
