Product Information:

The TS 55 REQ is Festool’s most advanced plunge-cut saw ever – and that’s saying a lot.

The all-new TS 55 REQ is not your standard circular saw. With its accuracy and versatility, it should be compared to the most advanced table saws, mitersaws, or panel saws available. Incredible portability and unbelievable ease of use deliver precision cutting like nothing else – equally at home in high-end cabinet shops and the most challenging remodeling sites. Packed with all the time-saving features you’ve come to expect from a Festool TS Saw, the new TS 55 REQ features a flat housing for flush-cutting against walls or adjacent surfaces, micro-adjustable depth controls, plus a host of other time-saving enhancements.

Guide Rail Precision – With the FS Guide Rail System, you’ll get laser-straight, splinter-free cuts in seconds. Simply lay the Guide Rail between two points, and you have your cutline. It’s really that easy.

Splinter-free – Cutting Splinter-guards on both sides of the blade ensure that you’ll make zero tear-out cuts in virtually any material, improving your quality of work while significantly reducing material waste.

Take the tool to the work – Replace large stationary equipment with an incredibly precise, handheld unit. You’ll save your back, while getting more out of your expensive materials.

Electronic variable-speed control automatically maintains a constant blade speed under load, and the soft start and automatic idle cut down on operator fatigue and noise. Surprisingly, the Festool TS 55 REQ uses a 6-1/4"-diameter blade, but still provides a 1-15/16" cut at 90° and a 1-7/16" cut at 45°. Festool TS 55 REQ includes a T-LOC Systainer SYS 4 storage box, 48-tooth carbide tipped blade, 55" guide rail, limit stop, and chip deflector.

Comments about Festool Model TS 55 REQ Plunge Cut Saw with T-LOC and Rail :

In response to the 3-star review by "dbb2014", I disagree that the TS 55 REQ and guide rail have a tendency to move. The guide rail has grippy strips on the bottom that encourage it to stay put even without clamping. I have never experienced the rail moving when lowering the saw onto it. I primarily use the saw and guide rail for cutting smooth sheet goods and I can imagine that there could be an issue if you were cutting rough or wavy materials. In that case, clamping would be a prudent safeguard. The saw makes splinter free cuts, maintains constant motor speed, and the scales and settings are extraordinarily accurate. In combination with the guide rail, you can perform many operations that would require a sliding table saw or vertical panel saw. I began using the TS 55 EQ about six years ago (when it was first introduced) in my studio furniture business. When Festool offered the current REQ model with improved splinter free cutting, dual depth scale, and flush cutting, I didn't hesitate to upgrade. It is one of the most accurate and reliable tools in my shop.

Comments about Festool Model TS 55 REQ Plunge Cut Saw with T-LOC and Rail :

The cuts the saw makes are very clean and smooth. However, I have two problems with the saw. The first problem is with the track. Unless clamped, the track has a tendency to move. Setting the saw in the track will cause it to move from alignment marks. Also the track has moved when the saw was being lowered to start cutting. Now I do my alignment after setting the saw on the track and hold the track when starting the cut. Clamping eliminates this problem, but I cannot always clamp the track down. Dust collection is the second problem. I use a CT Midi vacuum when using the saw. For the most part the dust collection works well. I found that when cutting thicker pieces of wood or doing small trim cuts the dust collection is problematic.

Comments about Festool Model TS 55 REQ Plunge Cut Saw with T-LOC and Rail :

I use the TS55 to cust sheet goods down but also for smaller items. When it is connected to my dust extractor the only dust it what falls down at the bottom of the cut. The edge finish is splinter free and I highly recommend getting the splinter guard for the waste side.
