Festool 55" Guide Rail
These rails are great - accurate, portable, can be spliced together for different lenghts.

it guides the saw, what do you want from
well, you put the guide on your material and run the saw along it. Pretty simple requirements. [...]
It just works....
I cut up 5 sheets of poplar, 3/4" plywood. I ripped all 5 into 13" 14" and 15" by 8' pieces. In other words, ripped each of the 5 sheets into 3 long strips. I bought the clamps when I bought the saw and str8 edge. The clamps are still in the package! I plopped the guide down, aligned the marks with the edge, and ripped away. The guide never moved, I made a total of 15 ripping cuts and not a single piece was less than perfect.
When using connected guide rails it was sometimes difficult to connect them in a perfectly straight line because the ends are not always machined to a perfect 90 deg. and the instruction manual does not tell you how to align them. I had to resort to a separate straight edge to get them properly aligned. I would recommend them, but be sure check the alignment after assembly.
JT's Man Cave
I was looking for a table saw alternative and the combination of the Festool plunge saw and MFT table have been great. They have far exceeded my expectations.
