This product will not work on composit decking for it breaks up the boards and will not be able to hold the decking. On treated lumber still not a great holding power.Not worth the money.

Great tool, does what is advertised. The only issue is it takes forever to install the boards. Would be great if they sold as a pair because it just takes forever to drill, place screw and then screw in. No fault of equipment just the process. Very nice result of no screws showing on a new deck!

I expected a more sturdy built tool from Kreg. It worked well, but if I had a much bigger deck, I think that it may have been worn out at the end of a larger job.

Jig is easily twisted when pulling out a drill/driver bits jig will break if care is not taken. I also question the strength of the Trex material when drill from the sides there are other screw that preform better than the jig and the screws are inserted from the top leaving a small hole on the top small enough to make disappear after finessing the Trex material. I would not recommend this tool until it is made more durable and a little larger head on the screw and body is produce. I would also recommend when framing to use a 10 inch on center as oppose to a 12 or 16 on center for floor joists as the deflection with the Trex which could result in the premature failure of the fastener.I add 2x6 cross beams 10" on center with my deck for add support.

This was my first deck project, so I'm no expert. However, I was quite pleased with the results. The first boards were a royal pain, drill, then drive, move around the spacers, do it again on the other side of the board. That's how the video says to do it. Once I realized that the pilot holes do not extend into the rafters, I started drilling all the pilot holes for two boards at once. Then, using the spacers, drove all the screws toward the spacers, then switched to the opposite side and drove all those screws. It was much faster, and the spacing was dead even throughout the deck. Keep in mind that unlike other blind fastener systems, if an inside board needs replacement, you don't have to disassemble the whole deck to get to it. I don't know if a pro would like this system, but I think it works well for a beginner.

[...] I was anxious to get going after watching the very detailed instruction videos.Using good, straight premium treated decking material I jumped right in. Everything went well, the product worked as advertised, but WOW! Compared to my former projects using surface nailing and deck screws this process takes a LOT of time! By the end of the first day I was quite disheartened to see that I had only gotten about half as far as I normally would. Good results - looks fantastic, yes. But allow MUCH more time than you think you will need.Then, my second disappointment. Just getting started early the next day I was drilling a hole and the pilot bit just snapped in half! This after less than 600 holes - and I did NOT bind or mistreat the bit in any way. While every box of screws comes with a screw bit, I realized that I should have ordered at least one extra pilot bit. [...]So here I am with a half a deck and half a bit. So while the jig is fine, I am NOT pleased with Kreg right now, to say the least.
