Comments about General 14" Bench Top Drill Press :
Not a bad press for the price. The size was right for me because my garage shop is not too big and this has a decent footprint. I haven't had any problems at all with it. I also found that it wasn't to difficult to assemble. I would recommend this press if you are just doing normal drilling and don't want to spend to much on a fancy machine.
poor castings any you better be tall

Be sure to read the assembly instructions carefully. They could be better and more complete. Installing the rack and table arm to the tower has to be done simultaniously. Be sure to install the safety shield before you install the chuck. I broke mine. Casting quality was poor on the table. The shaft had large hole in the side and there were numerous bug holes in the machined table surface. I expected better. I would have returned it but the hole, the size of a dime, was not in a location that would see a lot of stress loading. Poor quality control based upon their reputation. The laser center is of questionable usability as it has to be realigned with every change in table height. I am short. This tool is very tall. If you are 6' or over, you should have no problem using it setting on your bench. I'll need to stand on a riser to use it. Not a good thing to do in any shop. Later, I will build a drop table to lower it. I can only recommend this tool with the above reservations. Might have made another choice had I know this.
Instructions could use some help.

A few things with the directions. If your going to use the chuck guard you need to put it on before you attach the chuck to the drill. When putting it together if you have issues getting the table arm onto the pole you might need to put the arm and the gear path together before you put it onto the pole.
