Ultimate Plywood Rip & Rout Guide Kit
The kit provides everything needed to cut sheet goods up to 4' x 8' at any angle. The tool base plate slides easily in the guide with minimal play. It's so nice to not have to worry about the tool wandering away like when using a simple board as a guide.
Don't expect the angle jig to assure the cut is exactly 90° from 8' away. It works fine but one really should use layout lines or even another square at the far end for accuracy.
Virtually no instructions are provided with any of the items. Granted, not much is needed but a couple things still puzzle me.
Why does the connector plate have two extra set screws that bottom out in slots? It appears that perhaps they might force the connector to widen thereby locking it into place from side to side but why? It has 4 set screws that lock it to the guide sections.
The clamp posts are able to swivel but that swings the clamp off center from clamping tightly. There must be some purpose to the design.
A sentence or two of instructions on both would remove the mystery and probably teach me something. It's not enough to deduct a star rating but something for the manufacturer to consider.
Something I wish they'd invent (and include) would be additional slide on quick clamps similar to what typical 90° guides use. They wouldn't extend below the sheet and would make it a snap to make 90° cuts without the under clearance required for the regular clamps.
