Rob Cosman's Wooden Hinge Jig
Great product, but view wood-hinge box DVD first before buying. The DVD gives an alternative drill-press method to using this jig (for centering pin holes in the wood-hinge dowels) if you are just doing a few boxes. If you get this drilling jig, you will need to custom-make dowels yourself by building a custom dowel jig described in the DVD, and then test-fitting the dowels in the jig to make sure they are not too tight or too loose. You will need to tweak the dowel jig to get the dowels just the right diameter (about .252"). Store-bought dowels will not work - they are not perfectly round, and are sized too tight to fit in the drilling jig.

Hinge pin jig
St Paul, MN
Jig is great for getting pin holes exactly centered in dowel sections used in wood hinge. But note that its accuracy is dependent on you creating your own dowels with a custom jig at a CONSISTENT dia. Store-bought dowels are not recommended (they are too large in dia. for the jig and are not really round due to the way they are manufactured). R. Cosman describes making a dowel jig in video, but note FWW article in Oct 1991 for a better (I think) jig. Whatever jig you use to create dowels has to produce dowel diameters EXACTLY to fit this wooden hinge jig (no larger dia. than about .252), otherwise you will have to dig out your Dremel grinder to increase dia. of hole in this aluminum jig or rework the dowel itself. So plan on first creating dowels of a consistent dia. and test their use in the jig. Dowel jigs sometimes produce dowel diameters of increasing size (in thousandths of an inch)over time as jig exit hole gets worn and doesn't burnish surface of dowel down as much. Since the jig is a machine part, your dowel dia. matters in thousandths of an inch for correct fit into jig.
