I used this when finishing Acrylic ink pens. When done with the sanding, all you have to do is apply a coat of polish. Great product.

Leaves a scratch free finish on acrylic and polyresin. Clogs quickly on wood, but can be cleaned with an old toothbrush and water to give it a longer life. Size of the pad is perfect for pen turnings. A must have for anyone turning manmade materials!

I turn wood pen blanks at about 1900 RPM, then back down to 800 RPM during sanding and finishing. I sand my wood pen blanks to 600 grit using Woodcraft's pen turners sanding kit. Wash with denatured alcohol after sanding to remove dust. I apply 5 coats of StickFast CA Medium Finish (available at Woodcraft) using paper towel while wearing nitrile gloves. Lightly mist with accelator after each coat of CA (a direct stream of accelerator can turn the CA white). Then I go up through all the grits of MicroMesh using the color chart - about 30 seconds per pad. Don't press too hard with the Micromesh (it can melt if it gets hot). I keep the pads in a container of water and sand wet to keep the pads cool. Be aware the pen blank will appear chalky. No problem. Finally, I apply two coats of Stickfast gloss polish to the pen blank with paper towel and rub each coat for a couple minutes before cleaning off the blank with a clean cloth. The finished wood pen always amazes people. After using the Micromesh pads, I clean them by shaking them for 3 - 4 minutes in a plastic container with warm water and Ivory dish soap (don't use a dish detergent with lotion in it). The pads last practically forever if kept cool while sanding and cleaning afterward. I can't imagine making pens without using Micromesh pads! I also use the same finishing procedure for other small projects like ice cream scoops, etc. with the same great results.
