Comments about Homestead Transfast Dye Powder, Light Oak :
Apply with brush, rag or spray. If spraying you must use booth with extraction or outdoors. Apply second coat for evenness of coverage. Buff off after dry with "steel wool" (plastic scrubbers are best). On open pored wood (oak, ash, etc) the pores will not take the colour well. In that case, after applying a sealer (such as shellack), apply a coloured filler (then wipe off hard) and then apply top coats of poly, varnish or whatever. If using oil after the dye, finish off with a coloured wax. If using the light oak stain on oak, try a dark wax rubbed well into pores, and then hard buff off (perhaps with cloth buffing mop in electric drill). This product is so good, I get it from the States, there is nothing like it here in NZ.
