I bought this clamp to clamp a 3/16"X1.5" pine strip around the edge of a kitchen island. The clamp is long enough and the rachet system is easy to use. It was strong enough to get the lamination bent around the island, but could not hold it tight enough for the glue up. However, once the lamination was in place I could use regular pipe clamps to squeeze it down tight. The real problem I think is that the clamp belt was too light weight for this application and it abraided on the sharp edges at the rear of the island. I would think this might lead to a short lifespan in this type of application.
