100 Piece Pen Blank Assortment
All lengths are uniform with none smaller than .75 x .75 x 5 a few where 1 x 1 x 5. Various colors and variety of woods. All fine quality, only thing you should know is what the different types of wood look like. I don't know what they all are. I could assume that if they were labeled the cost would increase. Would buy again.

I bought this assortment to complement my pen turning wood inventory. Great price for the assortment you receive. The blanks will be pens soon.
Miles City, MT
The smallest piece I got was 3/4x3/4x5, they went up in size to 1-1/8xd1-1/8x5-1/2. Great variety of species in the mix. Will order again to increase my stock.
My husband purchased a box of these blanks today and sadly I was disappointed as the majority of the blanks were light wood. Might have had one piece of cocoa bola. The second disappointment was NONE of the blanks were labeled, so there is no way to know what type of wood the blanks are. Really? Was it too much to expect that they be labeled so we could learn the various woods?

I am getting ready for the holiday season and needed a wide range of species. this 100 solved my problem.
Based on the product description I was expecting a much broader assortment of blanks both in color and wood type. Mostly light colored blanks in the two assortments I purchased as well as most blanks were soft or moderate hardwood. several blanks were only 2.5 - 3 inches in length and ends cut diagonally. I will not purchase again and will spend more to get the specific blanks I want. When I consider the blanks I received even though at a reduced cost the lack of quality blanks takes away from the cost effectiveness of buying the assortment.
Picture/product description misleading
As a beginning turner wanting to try my hand at pens, this box of blanks seemed like a good stating point since it was on sale and advertised to be mostly exotic blanks and I could pick it up at the local Woodcraft store. When I got home I was disappointed when I opened the box to see 50% or more of the blanks were domestic species from the US and not exotic species. I saw no pine but a lot of what I consider "soft hardwood" like poplar.
I guess the picture on the box and the picture online was deceiving. Those pictures show a lot of dark exotic wood but what I got was a lot of light weight, light colored blanks, probably not suitable for a nice pen.
The blanks all seem to be 5" in length but vary widely in width from 5/8", or less square, up to some being 1"plus in width. Over all, not real satisfied but will use what I have or return them. Just posting to let others know what they might expect in a box of mixed blanks. Others may find a different box full of exotic blanks.
Not very exotic or assorted

Well all thats particularly good about it is that its all wood between 3/4" and 1" by 5".
The bad is WELL over half of mine are light tan colored and another quarter are light walnut. I did get twenty orange-ish blanks but thats it. Many of them are diagonally sawed which left one side of each horribly torn up.
If it wasn't on sale I wouldn't have bought it, and I certainly wont buy it again.
Not all hardwoods???
As a beginning pen turner, I purchased this assortment as a moderately priced way to try turning different types of wood. When I opened the box I found several of the blanks (16) appeared to be pine or some similar light, soft wood that doesn't seem suitable for use in a pen. After discovering the "pine" pieces I decided to count the blanks and found there were only 95 in the box.
All this being said, I still think the 79 blanks I did receive we're worth the current sale price, but I think I'll still stop by the store and see if I can swap out my box of blanks for a different box with fewer of the "pine" pieces.
