Just finished installing a set of these casters on my workbench 18X96, two deck 2X4 with 3/4 ply. It's a heavy bench even when not loaded. Everything I need in the box including clear instructions. Total time installing was abut an hour. Worked like a charm and rolls very freely on my basement floor completely loaded.

Comments about WoodRiver Workbench Caster Set 4-piece :

I was very skeptical about these, as they are pricey! However, I just installed them on my custom midi lathe rig that I'd been muscling around the garage and-WOW! I'm a believer. The instructions are a bit vague, which adds to the difficulty when coupled with a heavy bench, and if your floor is slightly out of level, you'll need to compensate for it. But SO FAR, these are the ticket!

Comments about WoodRiver Workbench Caster Set 4-piece :

Some folks have said there were no instructions; mine came with a simple diagram noting the mounting hole centerline heights from the floor; that's all that's necessary. Except that the mounting screws included appear to be about #10 self tapping and that doesn't cut it when using these near the rated capacity. So I bored out the holes and used 5/16" lag screws, except that the top hole was almost dead center on the assembly bolt hole for my bench. So I drilled to 3/16" holes left and right at the top and used the included screws there. I have to say I wish these were about 20% more robust. My bench had a shipping weight of 350 lbs. and after loading it with tools I think it approaches 90% of rated capacity. A stronger design would make me feel better and I would pay some premium for that. Lastly, they are hard to operate on my heavy bench, especially at the end with the tail vise where the overhang is more extreme. Not sorry I bought them, just thoughts on my setup. Cheers, Al

I am a picture framer, and have some very heavy workbenches. I installed these on the bench which holds my dry mount press (which alone is very heavy). The casters were easy to install, and work great. I am going to buy a set for each of my benches.

Comments about WoodRiver Workbench Caster Set 4-piece :

I have a very heavy bench : 85" long by 29" wide with heavy maple top complimented by large English front vise, a full width twin screw vise and a patternmakers vise. The base is made from old growth Doug fir 4x4s with 2x6 stretchers of the same. There are two full length shelves houses some of my collection of iron and wood planes plus a cast iron miter box and saw and a bunch of other stuff. So I am putting these casters to the test and they have passed, no problem. I mounted them on the inside of the pieces that connect the legs and serve as the feet at both ends so I would not be kicking them. It makes them a little harder to operate, meaning that they are partly under the stretchers thereby restricting foot access to the lever. I get a grip on the corner and lift a little as I press the lever to help a little and as my bench's weight is probably close to their limit. The floor does need to be clean as they only lift 3/8" and I don't want to stress them by trying to roll over a large chip. I do some pretty rough work with large chisel and hatchet, woodbutchery you could call it, so the chips are sometimes way more than shavings. Any way the bottom line is these are the casters I have always wanted for my bench and have made it, the largest thing in my shop, as mobil as my machinery has been for years. I looked at other outfits similar items and while the made similar or greater claims for load carrying the Woodcraft casters looked much beefier. Thanks for a great product Woodcraft!
