Laguna 16-Gallon Cyclone Canister
Top heavy. Falls over if you so much as look at it. Also falls over if don't. As soon as it falls over all the contents are sucked into the vacuum, immediately clogging the filter and defeating the sole purpose of this thing.

I received this as a gift from a friend (great friend, right?). Have used it daily to keep my shop floor from collecting chips. Was really impressed that this cyclone not only collected chips, but also did a great job collecting smaller particles like saw dust. Won't use nearly as many shop vac bags with this in the pipeline.
Well built using metal not plastic. Many times larger collector than most units. Seems like it will last for a long time. Don't forget to buy another hose (not included). This cost me about $25, however remember this unit is significantly cheaper than other, plastic units, and shop vac bags are not cheap.
Only negative I can think of is it slightly reduces suction...of course it would be impossible to add anything (canister and another length of hose) into the flow without reducing some suction pressure.

Assembly - a little tedious, but nothing difficult. The tank was a little out of round, but easy enough to deal with. Came with the skinny little wrench for the caster wheels.
Use - not quite 100% effective. Dust size material does make it through to the vacuum filter. Even on a 5 gallon vacuum tank, it would still be having to empty it once a year or so, lol.
Effectivness didn't appear to be affected by the size of the vacuum motor. I've used the little 3/4 "hp" vacs and a full size 6.5 hp vac.
Size: JUST RIGHT! Like Goldilocks, I always felt the 5 gallon buckets products would be too small, and always needing empyting. But I also don't have room for a full size style unit.
In my opinion, this one is the prefect size!!
1 wish: the one thing I do suggest is for 90 adaptors to be included. Since the unit does sit a little taller, the hoses sticking straight up addes quite a bit of height, and more diffuclt to tuck into an opening under a cabinet, bench or out-feed table.
I can't comapre to the other seperators, but even at full price, I would consider this a fantastic value with 100$ recommendation.
Great Dust Collector
Northville, New York
Big improvement over the Rockler and Oneida plastic Dust Deputy;well build, sturdy and very functional. Only complain is that it does not come with a flex hose for connection to a shop vac.
Time Saving Device
I love this tool, keeps my filter clean and is very easy to dispose of the waste. Looks nice in the shop too. It was a well thought out gift.
