    Poorly designed dust collection port

Comments about WoodRiver Benchtop Spindle Sander :

The sander itself does an adequate job for what it is supposed to do. BUT the dust collection port doesn't fit any of the standard hoses. The ID is 1-13/32 and the OD is 1-17/32 so no standard coupling will slide into it or over it. If I knew I was going to have this much trouble trying to connect it I would not have purchased it.

Comments about WoodRiver Benchtop Spindle Sander :

Item was needed for open curves. Unit works well with both inside and outside curves. Smoothes them to what looks like a perfect circle. Easy to change the drum sizes. They stay in place. Nice flat surface as well. I make curved stands to hold glass globes and need a good sander for them.

Comments about WoodRiver Benchtop Spindle Sander :

This is the first bench top spindle sander I have used. Compared to the big floor units, it holds its own. While it is a little noisy, that is a minor problem. It has ample power, and stays where you put it, but like Bob said, it isn't too heavy to move around. I am very pleased with the unit. I am using it for making band saw boxes and some tables I am making out of pallets and used wood. It really cuts the sanding time. The only thing I forgot is some finer grit sanding sleeves.

Comments about WoodRiver Benchtop Spindle Sander :

My son and I decided to indulge in a oscillating spindel sander for bandsaw boxes and knive building and, after looking over the field (and considering that the Wood River one was on sale), I decided on this one. It arrived promptly and was well packed. The manual is a bit skimpy but luckily it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. It seems to work very well with decent dust collection (although the dust outlet didn't fit anything I had around - I just stuck the nozzle from the ShopVac inside it for now). It certainly seems to well built. Big enoough so it doesn't move around on the bench but not so heavy that it is hard to move around and store when not using. Fairly quiet although I am going to use ear plugs with it. Overall pleased with it. Hopefully it will run for many years.
