Comments about Mujingfang Rosewood 1" Rabbet Plane :

I had to hone and polish the iron, which was recommended in the online description. There were no instructions with the plane. I'm still not 100% sure about the orientation of the iron. Although it seems to cut best with the bevel down, but it doesn't look quite right. I will likely call Woodcraft tomorrow and confirm the iron orientation. After honing the iron I've made some practice runs and I'm getting good results. So for the price I consider it an excellent value and would recommend it.

Comments about Mujingfang Rosewood 1" Rabbet Plane :

Out of the box this plane did not work. The blade was dull and the back slightly convex. The sole of the plane was not too bad, it was not flat and not square to the body, but not too far off. Once I spent some time flattening and sharpening the blade I setup the plane and was able to take fairly decent shavings. The one remaining issue is that shavings pile up in the mouth of the plane and need to be manually cleared. Overall for the price I am happy with this plane.
