Product Information:

The Veritas® Fine-cut Dovetail Saw has 20 ripcut teeth per inch. The fine-cut model is a less aggressive cut, utilizing 20 TPI for stock under 1/2" thick. The teeth, set 0.003" per side, have a rake angle of 14° and an included angle of 60°. The saw has a spine molded from an advanced material incorporating stainless-steel powder for weight, glass fiber for stiffness, and a polymer resin binder. An over-molded blade and stainless-steel handle-mounting bolt create a solid one-piece blade/spine/mount assembly, and a single brass fastener secures the Bubinga handle. Made of high-carbon steel, the blade is 9-1/4" long and 0.020" thick, with a cut depth of about 1-9/16". This comfortable, well-balanced saw has a 14-1/4" overall length.

Comments about Veritas Fine-Cut Dovetail Saw 20 tpi :

As a beginner woodworker with a surprising obsession with handtools and traditional techniques, I've spent the past few months learning and practicing the basics: sharpening, cutting to a line, planing, etc. I practiced cutting dovetails almost daily for the past three months and failed each time. (I was using a Crown Gent's Saw, which I like, but it's not made for dovetailing.) Last week I finally succeeded, and to celebrate I treated myself to my first good-quality new tool: the Veritas Fine-Cut Dovetail saw. All I can say is, what a difference a good tool makes. This saw is perfectly balanced, feels great in the hand and is just a pleasure to use. It starts easy and tracks perfectly straight... truly does the work for you. Higher priced saws may perform marginally better, but I can't imagine needing more or being happier with the value. I've also used it for small tenons and it shines there as well. Buy and enjoy!

Comments about Veritas Fine-Cut Dovetail Saw 20 tpi :

I purchased this saw so I could have 2 saws as I do not sharpen saws with this small tpi and have to send them out. My other saw is a more expensive one and of the traditional style. I really like this saw. It is comfortable in hand and cuts very well. I used it to cut 120 tails in red oak drawer faces and maple sides and backs. It was a little jumpy at first but after some use it settled down and went to work. I like the saw enough that it may take over first chair for dovetail work.

Nice saw. You can feel the quality. Angle of the handle a little awkward for me but I am getting used to it.
