Comments about Octagon Picnic Table - Downloadable Plan :

I recently downloaded and printed out the plans to build the table for a porch at a friend's house in Vermont. The instructions were really helpful and provided the exact amount of wood to purchase. The cut sheet was very helpful in trying to figure out how to make the cuts. Diagrams generally very good. Unfortunately, there were a few minor mistakes (for example, cut sheet had a few math problems on a board, a dado cut was not specified etc). Generally though, great instructions and built a solid table. Looking forward to many happy meals there!

Comments about Octagon Picnic Table - Downloadable Plan :

This is a very sturdy table. Instead of dowels, I used pocket hole joinery. I paid a lot of attention to the cut sheet and accurately made cuts, and then realized by looking at the prints that some of the cut sizes are oversized and some are not. I made mine out of plain 2 by untreated lumber and plan on sealing it with the latest and greatest deck sealant.

Comments about Octagon Picnic Table - Downloadable Plan :

My wife and I built this table a 10 years or so ago. It's well designed, heavy, and takes a lot of abuse. It wasn't hard to build, but don't try to lift it by yourself!
