This is THE saw to own!
Rob Cosman came to Seattle to teach at the Seattle Woodcraft store. I really wanted to attend his two 12 day sessions but two auto accidents made it impossible to be on my feet that long. I did spend a far shorter time than the 12 hour per day in his class and found why Rob is considered THE top instructor for Woodcraft. Rob is simply superb. In listening to his lectures it is very clear he has given deep though and has many years of experience behind everything he teaches. But on to his dovetail saw. It's AMAZING. It's not cheap but what great tool ever is? Hold his saw like you would a newborn baby, because if you do not this fine tool will not perform as well as it can. Simply let the saw and gravity do the work and with some practice - get Rob's "Hand Cut Dovetails 2.0" as this will give you the warm up drill so necessary for success, and with a few hours of practice "SUCCESS" is what you will enjoy. LOVE THIS SAW!
Money is no object
This is my first dovetail saw and after cutting my first joint I thought wow handcutting dovetails is really easy. My first try was not perfect but pretty close, a little sanding and it was perfect. I have since used a friends saw and thought man hand cutting dovetails is hard, but not with my cosman.
Great Dovetail Saw
I recently decided to learn hand-cut dovetails. In my research, I discovered that the quality of the tools used makes all the difference. I bought this saw, and I am glad I did. This saw is perfect.
This saw cuts perfectly straight which is THE key to successful dovetailing. The minimal set of the teeth keeps it straight during the cut. The rip tooth design cuts clean and quickly in end grain.
I learned the process of cutting dovetails from Rob's Dovetail Degree DVD set. The 7th practice joint I cut was near perfect (pictured). The slight gap on the top tail was my mistake and is repairable if needed. This joint was assembled saw cut to saw cut.
A great tool only hurts when you buy it. A bad tool hurts a little less when you buy it, but it hurts every time you use it.

Heavy, smooth saw.
A wonderful working saw. Just don't try to force cut. Let the saw do it for you.
