Pinnacle 12" Combination Square 3pc
Screw breaks. They know it, they haven't fixed it. Don't buy it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Redwood City, CA
I purchased this square (2-piece, plus the 24" rule) several years ago as a second square, and used it a few times. So it's been in the box. My other square disappeared at a job site, and I unboxed the Pinnacle to find that the clamp screw was broken. What a surprise. Seeing the other reviews with the same problem, it seems common: will Woodcraft offer replacement clamp screws?
I love this square, but the clamping screw on mine also broke after a drop. I stole the one from the center finding piece, but that one eventually broke, too. You can find replacement screws on ebay (Brown and Sharpe clamp screw) from Zoro. I bought some and they fit - hopefully they last longer than the ones that come with it.

Poor Adjustment Screw Head
05/05/2013 Ears on the Adjustment Screw made of soft metal as mentioned elsewhere. After less than 12 months the ears pull off making the tool only usefull as a ruler. I have a 30 year old Stanley that is still working but oxidize (rust) hard to visulize numbers. I hope Pinnacle/WOODCRAFT can replace the Adjustment Screw if not I would not recommend purchaing this tool!
Fine tool, but minor design flaw.
St. Louis, MO
I agree with part of Balarila's review. It's a fine tool, but the hook end to the thumbscrew has broken clean off on mine as well.
No mis-use in my case, I take extremely well care of my tools. I like the square, but this is pretty disappointing. Apart from this one design flaw, I can't say anything else bad about it.
Bunch Brothers Custom Cabinetry
Bought this at Woodcraft, used it a few months till the draw down pins witch must be pot metal gave out and broke. Should have bought another Starett, was trying to save afew bucks! bad idea.
Broken after 4 months of normal use
Balarila - Weekend Woodworker
The rule was accurate and well marked. Anvil is heavy and sturdy. What was wrong was the screw with the hook that is inside the anvil that one tightens a knob on so that the hook grabs onto the rule to seat it firmly in the anvil. After some use, i.e. loosening, sliding the rule in the anvil, and re-tightening; the hook inside wore off to the point that the rule started to wobble. It appears that the metal used for this part is too soft. I "retightened" by bending this part slightly so that whatever is left of the hook would grab onto the rule. But it still kept eroding. Now, the hook has completely broken off.
I hope Pinnacle can correct this by using a harder metal for this part. It's a pity because everything else looks well made. Now, I have a well-made junk.
Great value and quality
Laceys Spring, Al
Too bad that you have to buy the center finder when all I wanted was the bevel square
As Nice As A Starett
Not much to say, but this square is great. Everything about it is first class. I love having this size square in my shop. Plus, the carrying case it comes with minimizes the chance of it getting ruined when not in use.
Bottom line, this is a great square.
