Product Information:

Knives must be sharp to cut properly, especially kitchen knives. Anyone who's ever used a kitchen knife to "squish" a tomato understands this point very well. Leave the hassles of sharpening behind with ceramic because they come sharp and stay sharp almost forever. Whether slicing a tomato or cutting up vegetables or slicing stew meat, you can't beat a ceramic knife and now you can easily make your own ceramic knife. Each blank comes with assembly instructions.

  • Ceramic blade
  • Incredible slicing ability
  • Come sharp and stay sharp almost forever
  • Blade and instructions
  • Add your own handle design to personalize this knife

Comments about Ceramic 4" Chef Knife Blank White :

This was a very easy project and you will end up with a pretty cool little knife afterwards. As others have said, the ceramic is fragile and will chip easily if used on hard items. Works best on veggies, and is great for sushi prep due to the fact it is naturally nonstick. For sharpening you need to use a diamond surface 1000 grit or finer. A ceramic sharpening rod will not work and may actually chip the blade. I recommend taking to a professional sharpener who can handle ceramics well. I have been sharpening my own blades for nearly 20 years and I don't know that I will attempt to sharpen this. I bought this one as a cheap way to do my first handle, and had a lot of fun with it. Now to try my hand at one of the larger blades!

Not ready for prime time. Ceramic is sexxy, but still not practical. The cutting edge chips at the slightest tap and it is almost impossible to sharpen.

Very, very sharp. Does a superlative job of peeling and slicing a tomato. Good instructions are included for making a handle - I used some left-over mahogany - works great.

Comments about Ceramic 4" Chef Knife Blank White :

If you have a router table, a 1/2 inch bit will cut an almost perfect recess for the tang. Cut the recess while you're still working with rectangular wood, before shaping begins. I use the knife for trimming meat before grilling or smoking.
