Product Information:

Full-sized gun with a ¼" air inlet and large capacity for big jobs. Comes with a 1.4 mm nozzle and 600 cc plastic cup. 28.8 - 51 psi recommended air pressure, 4.2 - 7.1 cfm Average Air Consumption, 7.1" - 9.8" Pattern Width at about 6"-7" from surface.

If you own a compressor, there really isn't a cheaper or faster way to start spray finishing than this! This self-regulated, gravity-fed HVLP spray gun, works right off your compressor. Features a stainless steel needle and nozzle, as well as adjustments for air, fluid and pattern. So simple to operate, it is almost "plug" and "lay,” and it offers the advantage (because it is powered by an air compressor) of being powerful enough to spray a broad range of material.

Comments about WoodRiver Pro HVLP Spray Gun with 600cc Plastic Cup :

I've been using conventional spray guns for 30 years. Decided to give the HVLP technology a try on a small bench/chest. Assessment: superb. The paint was a particularly thick milk paint. No thinning needed. It laid down flat and smooth. Amazingly little overspray. The ergonomics are great. The cleanup was simple. The plastic cup sheds leftover paint easily. Used with a little 1HP compressor. While it did run to keep up there was never a shortage of air at about 40psi. This gun is a very good value and I'm now a convert to HVLP.

Comments about WoodRiver Pro HVLP Spray Gun with 600cc Plastic Cup :

This review is aimed directly to Woodcraft. I have not tried this gun yet (it may be fine), but the documentation is totally, incredibly inadequate. It is not written in proper English, the descriptions are inconsistent and incomplete, and the naming conventions are also inconsistent. There is no discussion of recommended air pressure. There is no guidance on thinning the product for best use. There is no mention of the 2mm needle kit for heavier product. Woodcraft, you may have this product subcontracted, but it is under your Wood River name; you need to vastly improve this documentation!

Have used the spray gun to spray both water and oil based primers, sealers, and latex and acrylic enamel paint with good results. I also purchased the 2mm needle kit for spraying latex paint. A great find.

Comments about WoodRiver Pro HVLP Spray Gun with 600cc Plastic Cup :

The Woodriver Spray Gun is a great value for the money. I recommend it to anyone new to spray finishing, or to anyone who wants excellent results without spending professional level money for a spray system. I am not a professional painter, but I am a professional carpenter and cabinetmaker and have applied finish materials to every project I have ever made. I have always used a brush in the past to apply material to wood and metal, or in some cases aerosol cans. For the price, this gun beats out trying to brush on materials nearly all the time. I also like that the gun is so cheap, it is nearly disposable. The price for a gun, and 2.0mm tip is lower than buying a just a new tip for most HVLP systems. I have used this spray gun over the last 7 months to apply clear water based lacquer, white tinted water based lacquer, shellac, latex interior paint, and Minwax polyurethane. I have not tried stains of any kind. The spray gun does not come with a detailed guide for use, so I read Spray Finishing Made Simple by Jeff Jewitt. Jewitt's book is essential for a new user to use the spray gun effectively. I also purchased the 1000cc aluminum cup for extra capacity, and the 2.0mm tip for thicker finishes. Latex paint will require use of the 2.0mm spray tip. I use the 2.0mm tip more often than the standard 1.4, as it allows me to thin my water based finishes less, and they dry faster in my experience. The threaded steel base of the plastic paint cup as well as the 1000cc aluminum cup will rust. This allows for the chance that a small chunk of rust could land in your finish. I have not had any trouble yet however. The fit and finish on the gun is what you would expect for the price, but this has in no way affected the usability of the tool. I use the gun at 28-30 psi for almost all work, and bumped it up to 40 for latex paint. Anything more seemed to create more overspray and no additional atomization. When taking apart the gun for the first time, the tip was far tighter than necessary, but I was able to not damage the tip while removing it. It has since been fine with only a slight tightening when I reassemble. I have recommended this gun to family members, and they have also been pleased with their results. Overall, the advantages outweigh the faults of the gun. If you are unwilling to live with the small troubles this gun gives you, I would recommend buying a professional level system. For everyone else, there is no reason to waste any more money.

Comments about WoodRiver Pro HVLP Spray Gun with 600cc Plastic Cup :

I purchased this HVLP sprayer to replace the suction HVLP sprayer I already had. It took some time to get the adjustments correct but once I had the settings good for the poly I was spraying I was very impressed. My old gun would have used 3 times the amount of material mainly due to overspray. This gun lays down such a thin coat it is almost impossible to get runs. My first project with this was a dining room table and I bet I didn't use a quart of poly and did six coats.

I bought this gun to aid in restaining my deck. The railing is held up by 220 2X2's and I did not want to brush them. The gun sprayed the semi-transparent stain well with the larger needle and orfice. I was able to set the fan accurately enough to cover just the 2" width and wasted very little stain.

Comments about WoodRiver Pro HVLP Spray Gun with 600cc Plastic Cup :

Spraying has brought a new facet to woodworking for me. Dye spraying gives a consistent shade to the entire surface, always difficult by hand. Shellac application without lap marks saves hours of retouching. I've even sprayed acrylic paint thinned 10% with water and using the 2mm nozzle. I recommend Jeff Jewitt's Spray Finishing Made Simple.

I have never sprayed finish, have allways brushed in the past. This thing is great, it worked right out of the box. I sprayed Deft Lacquer without diluting and it put a beautiful finish down on my project. Made me wonder why I have been brushing all these years. Great value!
