Product Information:

The most complete edition of the finest wet stone sharpening system available, the T-7 is rated for continuous use and has a vast array of specialty jigs available so you can quickly and easily sharpen virtually any tool in your house, backyard shed or workshop. The heart of the T-7 is the Tormek SG-250 10" x 2" grinding wheel turning at a slow 90 rpm through water which acts as a lubricant for faster grinding while it continuously cools the tool edge to prevent "bluing" the metal. After grinding, the 8-3/4" x 1-1/4" genuine leather honing wheel gently removes the burr and hones the edge to razor sharpness. The T-7 System also includes the Angle Master, Honing Compound, Stone Grader, Diamond Truing Tool, Square Edge Jig, and Handbook and Instructional DVD. Seven-year warranty.

  • 10" x 2", 250mm 220-grit grinding wheel
  • Square Edge Jig sharpens chisels and plane blades more easily than ever
  • Truing and Dressing Tool trues grindstone exactly round and flat
  • Durable drive wheel with proprietary rubber compound
  • Stainless steel main shaft

Comments about Tormek T-7 Water Cooled Sharpening System :

I just took this out of the box at 430 pm I had 2 sharp plane blades by 6. The CD supplied was brilliant, it shows everything you need to know upfront. If every manufacturer did this then the world would be such a better place! Anyone who does not rate this product a 5 star has no nugget between there ears! You could not make any improvement on this, I wanted to by this sooner, but did not want to shell out the big bucks. To be honest I have gone through a set of Norton stones that might have costed close to $300, not to mention the Diamond stone I used to flatten the Norton stones. The Norton stones are not versatile like this machine is. I will still use them as my techniques, but this machine is awesome. It can place a 25 degree bevel in less than 5 min. I add an aggressive secondary bevel that will show after 10 sharpenings. To reestablish square with the Diamond stone could take several hours. This machine will save you time and frustration! The band aids are quite interesting as its almost in the form of a first aid kit. I am very impressed with this tool! The learning curve is quick with the videos and books supplied. This is a purchase I will not regret, I actually like it most out of all my tools. I should have bought this sooner, you can even place camber on your plane blades!

Comments about Tormek T-7 Water Cooled Sharpening System :

The T-7, although expensive, has proven to be worth every penny. I laughed when I saw that it come out of the box with a package of bandaids included. I even thought it was a bit arrogant. However, within hours I needed one of the bandaids after having sharpened my favorite hatchet and mistakenly using a rag to wipe the water off of it. The hatchet cut through several layers of rag and sliced my finger. Positively amazing.

Comments about Tormek T-7 Water Cooled Sharpening System :

I purchased this sharpener two months ago. I have given it this long to make my review. I own several knives that are extremely expensive. I am a chef and pride myself on having sharp knives. I was spending about $100 a year on having these sharpened. when one day i asked the guy who sharpened my knife what he used. he told me a tormek t7. so I decided to buy one and sharpen my knives myself. when i received it from wodcraft I set it up. I then watched the dvd and read the manual. After doing this I then took one of my cheaper knives and began. When i was done my knife was extremely sharp. the set up for each knife is farely easy and very repeatable. the one issue i have seen with this product is that the knives are so sharp and it is so easy to sharpen them it makes me want to sharpen them every time i use them.

Comments about Tormek T-7 Water Cooled Sharpening System :

I use this water sharpening system to sharpen my wood turning tools mostly, but I do have other jigs to sharpen scissors and axes. I used a Grizzly before this machine and there is no comparison. This system is quick and easy to setup making it effortless to reproduce the exact geometry needed to sharpen and polish your tools fast. The only con was the price, but you get what you pay for in life and I think this was worth every penny.

Comments about Tormek T-7 Water Cooled Sharpening System :

I'd qualify myself as a pretty serious novice on the lathe. I have only rated the Tormek at 4 stars at this point as I am still very new to it. Any shortcomings I've experienced are very likely due to my "newness" to using it. This time through on my woodworking purchase I wanted to buy the best there was---hoping to have no regrets later. Super strong, very well built, seems to do its' intended job very well. As I use it more I am certain I will like it more. It is a very serious tool and as such demands some serious practicing to get the perfect results one is after. I will update my review as I (hopefully)improve my sharpening skills.
