Product Information:

This compact vise features a cast-iron body and sliding jaws which are aligned with 2 steel guide rods and the main screw for smooth action. The vise mechanism has an integrated swivel base for 360° rotation. Jaw capacity can be doubled from 3-1/2" to 7" by removing the sliding jaw section and placing it at the back of the body - making the vise reversible. Polypropylene jaws with v-grooves assist in holding round and thin sheet material gently but firmly.

Comments about Groz 4" Reversible Vise :

Got this on sale for a song with low cost shipping. I use this as a sort of portable 'lap vise' mounted to a 3/4" board as a 'take along' for work inside or on the road, etc. It's not perfect, but it serves well for the price and the well padded jaws are versatile and fit my needs. I hate the reviews people give that complain about clogging and other 'flaws' that are the result of their not taking care of an item. Keep it clean and don't abuse it and I'm sure it will provide a lifetime of effective clamping or holding a project while cutting, carving or filing/sanding, etc.

Comments about Groz 4" Reversible Vise :

This is a great vise for my drill press. It has mounting holes that were easy to mount. I also use it on my workbench. It is not real heavy, and easy to move around. It is tough and really holds what I need it to. I love the 360 degree swivel, which is easy to use.

This little vise works fine in the "front" position, but I was disappointed that the jaws did not close in the extended "rear" position; the casting is in the way

Comments about Groz 4" Reversible Vise :

This vise is pretty low quality, but it is nice to have around. You secure it to a table top with wood screws, which makes mounting and unmounting easy as long as you don't mind putting screws into your table top. The little bar bent on me the first time I used it. The jaws are plastic. Whether that's a pro or a con depends on what you want it for. There is no way anyone who has seen this vise would pay what Woodcraft claims was the original price.

Comments about Groz 4" Reversible Vise :

This is not a bad vice, in fact I expect it to work just fine for the smaller work I do. It is definitely a quality knock off (India), in every way. The reason for 4 and not 5 stars is a slightly smaller screw and the finish is not of the same quality as Records, which this vice is meant to compete with, also,...the flattening surface is dinky by comparison and the jaws do not close flush with the plastic inserts removed, but then again neither did the Record's. Heavy for it's size and solid attachment points and for the price, is a fair deal. I'd get another in a heart beat.

Recently purchased on discount, so can't comment on the long-term durability, but I like the reversibility. It is a bench vise, not much more to say really.
