A Little Pricey - But Nice
I needed to slot stiles and rails for 7/32 inch plywood panel in a few dozen doors. The dado on my table saw at it's thinnest configuration was still a bit sloppy. I used these for the first time yesterday and worked perfect. They plowed through a hard maple like butter. The cutters a well marked with their width, come in a nice case so everything is in one place and doesn't get banged around, and plenty of shims so you can tweak your cuts as needed. Overall very nice. Hope they hold their edge over time. My only gripe is the price.
Excellent product but needs instructions
I needed to cut a very thin (1/16" or slightly larger) slot in a new window frame for adding weather stripping. The bits were on sale making the buy even sweeter. Now I am set to handle any width slots that I need to cut in the future.
While there are no instructions it didn't take a lot to figure it out. It's similar to a stacked dado blade.
Industrial Quality Set
While I am an avid DIY'er, this is my first experience with using slot cutting bits. Because of this, a set of instructions was sorely missed.
I had some 1/8" erasable whiteboard left over from a previous project. I decided to make a frame for it. I used the 5/32" cutter to cut a groove in the stiles and rails. Worked like a charm.
Instructions would have given this product a fifth star.
It´s an excellent tool, it turns your router into a shaper at the moment of doing slots, grooves and rabbets
Just the right tool for the job.
While building a deck I needed a slot cutter to use hidden deck fasteners, but I wasn't sure of the size of the slot I needed. This set was the perfect tool for the job. I had a full range of slot sizes and ended up making biskets for the miter joints in both the deck steps and the ipe railing.
