WoodRiver 110-Volt Dust Collector Remote Control Switch
Like several other reviews on here mine worked great for about two years then the breaker went crazy. It consistently pops instantly every single time I try to use it now. I gave up on it. I agree that it's a high price to pay for such a short lived product.

Works OK but had a reliability issue
I use this to control my 2hp Dust Collector. First time I used it it didn't work. Plug connection felt odd. Put in a 2 pronh to 3 prong adapter and it fired right up foe a couple of weeks. Then it quit. 70 mile trip back to the store so I opened it up. The final wires to the output socket are made with spade connectors and all three of the blades intermal to the socket were pushed out of the back of the socket body. Found a replacement socket on the internet Got new one installed and all is now well with the world. This was clearly a defective componant and I would expect that the unit would have been replaced under warrenty but for a 140 mile round trip back to the store it simply wasn't worth it.
Long term, we will see how it holds up.
I purchased one of the unite a few years ago from Woodcraft. Worked well until 6 months ago. On activation of remote start control, the overload button on top of unit pops. After pressed the top reset button, a retry produces the same result about 70 present of the time, popping reset. Very frustrating to walk over to the unit and constantly reset the overload. (The object of the control is convenience, not continuous tinkering) I also had to replace the lower plug receptacle where the dust collector plugs into the control, shorting took place there. Had to order parts from China. I have a Jet dust collector, 1.5 HP. Originally started out well but turned into a product that is very disappointing.
Does not last!

After two years it stops working. Replaced battery in remote and it still does not work. High cost for a switch that stops working after a couple years.
I absolutely love this product !!

I have many tools connected to the dust collection. 8 tools. This remote saves me
Lots of time. Plus I now use my dust collecter. Ever time I turn a tool on.

Pricey, but very convenient when it work
I've burned through two of these. Really convenient, but there aren't any instructions that say you shouldn't leave it on. After a few days of not being in my shop, two of them have stopped working. The convenience is getting expensive. If I could find another mfr, I would be tempted to give it a try.
My wife got me one of these for father's day. Works well but very expensive for what it is. I returned and got same thing but in the xmas light isle at a local retailer for 1/3 of the price. It's forest green like xmas stuff but other than that works great. Also fun to mess with the kids to set your garage door opener buttons in your vehicle to this devide and then turn on lights, radio, ... when they least expect it.
Mostly great, but can be finicky
When it's working it's great, the problem is it doesn't always work for me. I have a Delta 50-760 1.5HP dust collector, and bought this so I didn't have to run back & forth every time I used it. It has mostly worked flawlessly, but sometimes refuses to turn on the dust collector. I suspect the problem is the high startup amperage of the DC. If I plug anything else like a lamp or my drill press, it works fine. The DC plugged into the wall works fine. But plug the DC into the remote box, hit the button & nothing happens. Extra frustrating is that it's doing this now after working fine for a couple years. It did it once before, but started working again as mysteriously as it stopped. I really miss having this functionality available, and hope mine decides to start working with the DC again soon.
This unit is great! I was able to position the dust collector in an out-of-the-way location in the shop, and simply clip the remote to a convenient spot in the center of the room.
Didn't want a unit that auto-senses when a tool is turned on for several reasons:
- they share the same AC circuit as the power tool
- they only work with whichever tool is plugged into the unit.. What about your other tools?
- the collector only runs when the tool is running. Sounds obvious, but I quickly learned that starting the collector first allows it to get up to speed before starting the tool. AND.. it is so nice to let the collector run for a bit AFTER turning off the tool.
Had it for a few weeks now and absolutely love it!
Works as advertised
handy to not have to walk all over the shop to energize the dust collection system.
