Comments about Veneer Edge Banding Iron :

I went against the comments of the professional users and bought it anyway. I wanted a tool that would allow more control then an iron. The tool doesn't get hot enough for the job. Save your money, follow the advice of others and use an old/cheap iron for best results. I've veneered MANY times and have usually been happy with the results, so disappointed!

Comments about Veneer Edge Banding Iron :

I use mine all the time to heat transfer small patterns from a laser printer for my chip carving. Doesn't work good on smaller plates though. But working on a jewelry box this works great to transfer the pattern. Otherwise you need to use lacquer thinner and that is not only dangerous but toxic

Comments about Veneer Edge Banding Iron :

Ive relied on Woodcraft for years to supply me with quality. This product is useless. [...] Any $10 clothes iron will do a much better job. I understand the need to reach a price point for beginners and homeowners but this is beyond reaching a price point. Its just plain a rip off. Save your money and use a clothes iron. I would expect this from their competitor but not Woodcraft.

Comments about Veneer Edge Banding Iron :

I have been using a clothes iron for my edge banding and thought this iron would work better. I was very disappointed. It does not get nearly as hot and takes twice as long to melt the glue and get the banding to stick. I'm going back to the clothes iron.

    Pros

    • Easy to maneuver
    • Heats very quickly
    • Lightweight

    Cons

    • Handle should be tighter
    • Needs a non-slip grip

    Best Uses

    • Contract Jobs

Comments about Veneer Edge Banding Iron :

I'm very glad to have bought this iron, it made my job much easier. It is easy to use, quick to heat up, the sharp tip was terrific in tight spaces. I have used other irons and this one is much better, it has a slender feel, not clunky. The teflon bottom and sharp sides are all great attributes too.
