Forstner Bit Set, Carbide Tip, 16 Piece
Forstener bits are hard to sharpen.
These stay sharp for a long time, much longer then High Speed Steel..
I had to buy them for drilling into plywood which usually dulls HSS instantly ...
I wish I bought these years ago..
Totally worth the money..

Disappointing -- Poor Overall Quality
Oklahoma City, OK
I have used 4 or 5 of the bits and have found them to be rather dull. Each bit is comprised of 5 carbide tips: 2 which cut the flat bottom, 2 which score the outside edge of the hole, and 1 which centers the bit. The 2 tips which score the outside of the hole are not ground to the same depth and are significantly deeper than those which cut the "flat bottom" portion of the hole. The result is a hole with a (normal) center divot and a scoring groove around the outside. A flat-bottom hole is out of the question with these bits. I use the bits with a lathe and runout doesn't seem to be an issue.
I bought the bits to replace the regular high-speed steel bits that tend to dull quickly but these bits are rather dull to begin with. Overall quality is poor. Very disappointed!
