Comments about Fasteners, Desk Top :

I used these to attach a table top to the base of my table. To attach to base, I drilled the pockets with a 3/4 diameter forstner bit. This gave me an excellent fit and allows some movement/swivel for expansion and contraction of the wood. The only suggestion I would make is to add about a 1/4 inch to the overall length of the fastener. This will give a little extra room to screw the table top to the base without having to tilt your screw gun or screw driver.

Comments about Fasteners, Desk Top :

I've used these before. They allow a table top to be fastened to a base and the swivel with the fastener that can take place deals with uneven shrinking & expansion of the top vs. the base cabinets. The only drawback is the need to plunge route a recess in the top lip of the base cabinet so the fastener & hence the top sits flush. The off-setting advantage is the screws holding the top on are accessible from the outside, allowing for easy disassembly to move the unit. I bought these from Woodcraft because my local hardware stores don't stock much in the way of furniture hardware.
