I replaced the hinges on a cedar chest that kept hitting me on the head. I tried the pretty brass type first, only to get hit on the head again. Then I added just ONE of the heavy duty Woodcraft hinges and it worked like a charm. Yes, I am buying several to have on hand. They are inexpensive and they work.

This was perfect! I'm a Mom to three active little boys with no woodworking experience, and we found a large, homemade plywood chest...perfect for extra blankets and as a step for them to get into their bed/fort. But the cover weighed so much and someone's fingers were bound to get seriously squished. This installed in minutes with a simple screw driver. Now the cover has to be pushed to go down and close!! No worries of squished fingers now!!

Comments about Lid Support, Left, 95-125 Ip Lids :

We've gone through pairs of hinges for my daughters toy box lid,and nothing has lasted. But just one of these lid supports is doing the job very well. I installed it near the center of the lid and it holds perfectly. She can easily raise & lower lid, also. Instructions were easy to follow, even for a beginner.

we used these hinges on an existing window seat toy box lid. I bought the heaviest ones and we ended up needing 2 of them. The existing piano hinge was installed opposite of the drawing so we are hoping there won't be a problem in the future. Closes gently with no fear for little fingers.

Comments about Lid Support, Left, 95-125 Ip Lids :

We purchased a large wooden chest for our baby boy's room. The lid is solid, heavy wood and we do not want him to smash his fingers/hands/head when he's older and begins to use the chest for his toys. I purchased two of these lid supports, and I am so glad! They were very easy to install (anyone can do this), and they work like a charm. The lid definitely needed two of them, one was not enough. But once they were both installed, the lid is very easy to open, and will not close unless pushed shut. We love these! Thank you for helping us keep our little man safe!

Although easy to install, design could be improved to open wider, say 90+ degrees. Also, they don't hold lid open until you open at least 3 inches...for the most part good, but I'd like to see the improvements done to the product.

Be sure to only use this on a box with a 3/4" thick rear rail. Mine had a 1 1/2" wide rail and I had to change the mounting dimensions (making multiple holes in the project that were not usable) by trial and error until a usable configuration was obtained. Also, this limited the opening to about 70 degrees. This really appears to be a great product but it can only be used exactly as intended.

The supports work very well, and installed very easily on the toy box I built for my son. The only complaint that I have is that they were out of stock in every size other than 95-125 IP, and only had the left hand model, at the time I ordered. I needed the next size down. But I can't really hold that against them when I ordered two weeks before Christmas.
