Woodcraft Vice President, Marketing
Woodcraft Supply, LLC. the leading retailer of quality woodworking tools and accessories is seeking a Vice President of Marketing for our corporate office in Parkersburg, WV. Reporting to the President, the Vice President of Marketing will develop an integrated marketing plan that supports Woodcraft’s Vision, Mission and Declaration of Values, while generating sales and providing seamless brand projection across multiple business channels. The successful candidate will lead, and manage, a team of 20+ marketing, sales, internet development, product development, and magazine publishing professionals, dedicated to executing best-in-class marketing and sales strategies for direct and retail channel customers. A passion for woodworking and understanding of woodworking tools and accessories is preferred.
Leadership Team Member
Provide marketing leadership by representing all functional areas of responsibility as a member of Woodcraft’s Leadership Team. Functional areas of responsibility include Marketing, Sales, Internet Development, Product Development, and Woodcraft Magazine. As a senior leader in the company, the VP of Marketing will participate in and travel to the Woodcraft Vendor Trade and Woodcraft Franchise Council meetings as necessary, be responsible for creation and management of budgets with full P&L responsibility for all functional areas, be willing to participate in, and complete, other tasks within the Marketing functions that are necessary to accomplish Woodcraft’s plans and objectives.
Marketing
Develop, plan and execute marketing strategies that support organization goals and objectives in the retail and direct mail channels of business. Oversee PR releases and communications in support of ongoing business endeavors. Attend relevant conferences and trade shows in support of brand projection. Direct the utilization of National Advertising Fund monies to ensure maximum benefit in print and television media expenditures. Conduct market research and apply internal database information to ensure that marketing programs are aligned with customer expectations. Continually review flagship and product branding strategies to ensure alignment with core mission and values and ensure compliance with all branding strategies in the field.
Sales
Guide and direct a multi-channel sales department in the development of promotional activities that create excitement and drive woodworking customers to the retail, catalog and internet channels of business. Monitor and evaluate sales performance against budgeted plans, while recommending remedial actions as required. Develop and implement pricing strategies that maintain market competitiveness while remaining consistent with Woodcraft’s business model and performance objectives.
Internet Development
Ensure that woodcraft.com incorporates state of the art technology and provides a best in class shopping experience for Woodcraft’s internet customers, while strongly projecting the Woodcraft brand. Develop plans for and implement the use of third party technology suppliers, as appropriate, in the execution of a comprehensive internet sales, e-mail, social media/blogging, and affiliate programs. Oversee internet advertising plan development and monitor advertising expenditures to ensure maximum effectiveness.
Woodcraft Magazine
Serve as the Publisher for Woodcraft Magazine. Develop and execute a budget, ensuring that advertising, circulation and editorial content plans drive revenue and overall circulation growth. Ensure that Woodcraft Magazine activities area coordinated with, and support, the overall strategies of Woodcraft.
Product Development
Oversee the sourcing and development of woodworking hand and power tools in support of Woodcraft’s goals and objectives. Develop, or expand, proprietary lines of tools to support existing house brands. Establish and maintain vendor relationships, traveling to domestic and foreign locations as required. Working with the Director, Product Development, review and analyze product trends within the industry to ensure goals and objectives are in alignment with market trends. Ensure product quality objectives are met and all quality issues are addressed in a timely fashion. Ensure the department consistently interacts with franchisees in the pursuit of new product ideas or by providing technical product support.
Additional Qualifications
A passion for woodworking, with the knowledge of application for a variety of woodworking tools.
Bachelor's degree required. Master’s in Business with concentration in Marketing preferred.
Strong understanding of franchising marketing operations and franchisee marketing needs.
Minimum of 10 years of strong marketing experience in retail and direct to consumer channels, preferably in a franchising organization.
Strong financial, business and marketing strategy acumen with creative marketing experience.
Superior analytical, complex problem solving, communication (written/verbal), organizational and project management skills.
Demonstrated leadership in creating alliances, consensus-building and conflict-resolution.
An entrepreneurial sense of ownership with a dedication to continual review and improvement of the Marketing processes.
Expertise in using industry research and internal data to develop engaging, customer oriented marketing programs.
Computer experience to include Microsoft Office-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Woodcraft Database Programmer

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Experience working with enterprise-level
software with the ability to analyze business needs and translate them into technology as well as process solutions. Must be proficient in gathering and analyzing
business requirements from internal customers, evaluating solution options, and developing recommendations.
Data Warehouse & SQL Skills
Manage a multiple data warehouse environment that integrates data from multiple corporate business systems.
Maintain the quality of data through reporting and database system alerts.
Experience in writing complex SQL queries with relational databases.
