Bench grinders are designed to drive abrasive wheels which can be used to reshape, sharpen, hone, buff, polish and clean a variety of metal objects. Also known as a benchtop grinder, these workbench mounted tools are commonly used by woodworkers to touch up dulled planes, chisels, bits and more. Typically driving heavier wheels that are at least 6” in diameter by 1” thick at slower speeds, a benchtop machine can remove heavy amounts of material. Since they are fixed to a table, the operator has a great deal of control of the process. Need help picking a tool best for your needs?
