Carving chisels have two basic grinding styles, single or double bevel, and two profiles, skewed or straight. Double beveled grinds are ground with two rounded heels. This allows for the rocking motion so necessary in controlling depth of cut. Single bevel grinds are ideal for paring and delicate detailing.
