I needed to cut a predision circle in Pine which is an open-grain wood that splinters easily. This circle cutter made perfect cuts with sharp, clean edges; just what I was hoping for.

It is useful in creating holes or discs of an exact size within its range which is not going to exist in a hole saw or Forstner type of drill bit. There is less contact area so there is not the burning that takes place with bi-metal hole saws. With hard woods like birdseye maple or Ipe the blade dulls very quickly and cutting time increases. To create a ring out of wood two separate operations are needed while keeping everything centered which is not easy to do. I have since started using a Hole Pro adjustable hole cutter that will cut up to a 12" diameter hole and that has blades with a narrower kerf and that come in both high speed steel (excellent for wood and plastics) and tungten carbide that work great on very hard wood and MDF materials. Shield on the Hole Pro keeps the shop cleaner and keeps hands out of harms way when working quickly and with the twin blades we can adjust one for the inside diameter of the rings we make and the other blade for the outside diameter and cut them out in a single operation.

you can adjust the depth and wideth to what ever size you need.I use it for cutting wheels for toy trucks/tracters/airplanes/bulldoziers/wagons/everything
